The Bunch are Summer Ready!!!

Ok, maybe NOT ready for the relentless Texas heat that is associated with summer, but ready for the slower pace and less commitments summer brings. The kids finished scouts for this year and do not go back until after labor day. Volleyball is over and basketball doesn't start for two more weeks. We have some library activities, VBS, and baseball camp planned for this summer, but that is about it. We are even planning to take off from gymnastics for a couple of months. I look forward to the slow relaxing pace.....I give it a week before the kids are so bored they start fighting constantly and ruin my serene vision of a laid back summer. She is so happy to throw out this year's papers. Already trying to relax for summer. I have decided, to a somewhat reluctant audience, that we will plan another month long trip in the next 18 months. Why torture everyone after the expressly voiced reluctance of ever traveling that long again? There were three main reasons: 1.

The Bunch Have Been Busy

What a difference a week makes! First off, I had my tubes "installed". Unfortunately, the doctor was unable to put the longer lasting tubes in because one ear did not have enough space behind the ear drum since it had been collapsed for so long and he could not place it in the other ear either because it would not come off his tweezers. Basically, after several agonizing tries to get it in, he gave up and put in the smaller tubes in both ears, which hurt much less to insert, but will fall out in a year so I have to do this all over again next year.  He did use a pain deadener, which consisted of filling my ear up with lidocaine and using an electric probe inserted into my ear canal to "pulse" it deeper for about 15 minutes on each side. It really helped, but it still was sort of painful. Every thing sounds so weird now. It is like I hear everything underwater. I hope it sounds normal soon! I did notice that my ceiling fan makes this annoying little ticking sound EVE

The Bunch Go Camping

D and I did it! We are Scout Family Campout survivors. Our semi annual scout family campout is definitely just for the kids because the parents work....a lot. This time we had it at Lake Tawakonie State Park. We loaded up the camper (which worked great by the way) and the bikes and headed out to east TX. Once we arrived about 3 hours later, the craziness that is camping weekend began. The kids were given their bikes to ride constantly around the loop while finding friends to ride with them. This pretty much describes the whole weekend. Lots of kids screaming, riding bikes, walking dogs, hiking, swimming, and just generally having a great time getting dirty and being outside. Being that we hate being dirty and more importantly hate the kids being dirty, this is a real test of our patience to let the kids have fun  with their friends. Unfortunately, this state park has a serious bathroom issue. I think they assume most people who visit will have rv's. This is the only possible ex
