The Bunch Go Camping and Celebrate Thanksgiving

We are starting our hike. We had planned to spend a few days out at Bonham State Park over the Thanksgiving holidays so we could check out the wedding venue before C's big day. However, it ended up being completely booked and so was almost every other state park within a hundred miles of us. We ended up getting the last available site at the lake that is only 30 minutes from our house. Since it was the last spot, I figured it would have something wrong with it, but as it turned out, it was one of our favorite spots. Not only was it fairly level, but it was extra wide, which was nice since we spend a lot of time outside watching tv and using our Solo Stove. We absolutely love our Solo Stove. It is nice to be able to move the fire around to where ever we want to sit instead of being restricted to where the fire pit is and because of how the stove is made it has virtually no smoke from the fire. The weather was almost perfect. It was a little chilly in the mornings with nice mild af...

The Bunch Watch T Play in 2 Basketball Games and Celebrate More Birthdays

T is obviously 23. The one towering over everyone even the coaches! Wow! What a blur the last week was! T not only had a 2 hour basketball practice, but 2 basketball games an hour away each in opposite directions on two separate days.  I feel like all we did was drive this week. The first game he had was crazy. It was apparently the first game in 5 years that this school had played and I am not sure the refs ever played either. We didn't complain too much though since they were getting completely slaughtered by us anyways, but it was so frustrating. We took it easy on them and never played all our starters together, but it still had more than 20 points difference. T was great. He scored half of the team's points. The second game was in a school that was completely the opposite of the first game. I am pretty sure the first school had been used in a horror movie at some point. It was so creepy! The second school was a very nice private school. They even had a parking lot and ligh...

The Bunch Go To T's First Basketball Tournament and Visit Gigi & Poppop

T's first 3 basketball games this season were at a tournament. It made me feel like we were a part of NASCAR. You know, have the big race first. It was quite the experience. It was held in Duncanville, which is about 80 miles from our house. The fieldhouse that it was held in was crazy. It had 6 fullsize courts plus bleachers for each court. There was so much screaming, loud whistles, and buzzers that it was hard to tell if it was for your game or another one. The first day we arrived around noon so that wasn't too early. However, we ended up having to stay there until almost 9 pm. After, almost 8 hours of loud basketball, the girls and I were ready to never see another basketball again! T played really well. He made 16 points in the first game and the most points in all the games. He won MVP for making the most points and getting the most rebounds. Several of the teams had players as big as if not bigger than T. In fact, if T and the other large boy hadn't been on our te...

The Bunch Celebrate Halloween and T Gets His Braces Off

My body outline was a gingerbread man! We celebrated our Halloween on the 30th this year since Halloween fell on a Sunday and we were crazy busy with Church that day. The kids are too old to trick or treat anymore, but they still enjoy dressing up for a halloween calendar picture. This year we have been watching Brooklyn 99 (most of the episodes are family friendly, but not all so they don't watch every episode). They decided to dress up as detectives Jake, Rosa, and Amy from the show. They also like to have a halloween themed movie day. It is a tradition to watch Hocus Pocus every year and in the days leading up to halloween ,we watch halloween episodes of our favorite shows.  I usually make some of their favorite foods and we just take a day to relax and enjoy our time together. We do spend a lot of time together everyday, but holidays are very relaxed. There are no chores, school, or extra responsibilities. We just live in the moment and enjoy it. I often wonder if when t...
