T is obviously 23. The one towering over everyone even the coaches! |
Wow! What a blur the last week was! T not only had a 2 hour basketball practice, but 2 basketball games an hour away each in opposite directions on two separate days. I feel like all we did was drive this week. The first game he had was crazy. It was apparently the first game in 5 years that this school had played and I am not sure the refs ever played either. We didn't complain too much though since they were getting completely slaughtered by us anyways, but it was so frustrating. We took it easy on them and never played all our starters together, but it still had more than 20 points difference. T was great. He scored half of the team's points. The second game was in a school that was completely the opposite of the first game. I am pretty sure the first school had been used in a horror movie at some point. It was so creepy! The second school was a very nice private school. They even had a parking lot and lights (Yes, the first one was THAT scary.)! We ended up losing the 2nd game, but only by 6 points and the refs actually knew the rules of basketball so that was nice. T made the only baskets in that game though a couple of other teammates did make a few free throws to add to the total. He played almost the entire game since he is one of the strongest players. Boy, was he tired afterwards! He is extremely accurate with his shots, but is horrible getting the ball down the court. He is suppose to hand it off to another child who is smaller and super fast to take it down the court and then he gets in position and the child passes it to him and he shots. It works well. The coach is really good about playing to everyone's strengths and T has never lost a shoot out yet.
We also celebrated my oldest child's 28th birthday, my granddaughter's 13th birthday, and my father's birthday. L and I made a cake to celebrate with. We found a recipe this summer for a chocolate zucchini cake (one of many zucchini recipes we found this summer thanks to an abundant harvest this year). It is the BEST cake recipe I have ever found. L does the icing because she is VERY particular about how it looks. I am more of the mind to just slap the icing on and let us eat it! So she took the time to make it look nice. She also had to make a raspberry sherbet cake for her Home Ec class. She hated this one. It basically melted before she could freeze it and then it froze with the cake absorbing the ice cream. It didn't look as bad as she made it out to be, but it was so cold! We had to heat it up a bit just to eat it.

She did such a great job decorating. |
|
The ice cream cake was super messy! |
|
She was actually able to roll the ice cream and raspberries into it. |
|
She basically had to work with soup as her filling. It was crazy how fast it melted. |
|
It turned out really good, just SUPER cold. |

My father opening his presents. |

My granddaughter opening her birthday gift, which was a skin fridge. Yep, that's a thing and she loved it! |

C was camera shy. |
