The Bunch Go Camping at Fort Richardson Again and Deal with More Record Rainfall

Celebrating his cousin's graduation....last pic with his long hair Is it possible to have a long short week? That is what we had this past week. It felt like we got a lot done, but also that it went by fast. This past week was suppose to be another fun camping weekend at Ft Richardson. This is our last weekend without 30 amp hook ups at the house. Yay! Luckily, it was cool enough I didn't need to turn the a/c on in the trailer before we left so everything went smoothly this time. 2020 the year of the virtual graduation celebration.  It rained a lot before we left for our trip. It causes us a lot of problems when we get excessive amounts of rain. The chickens end up getting wet or the horses have no where dry to stand and can hurt themselves sliding in the mud. We hate nothing more than excessive amounts of rain. Words cannot adequately describe how treacherous the horse pen is when we have had 4 or more inches of rain. Not only is it slippery and super muddy, but we need at lea

The Bunch Get a Lyra Hoop and Move the Babies in with the Big Girls Full Time.

This week was mostly a get things done around the house week. Apparently, nearly 3 months of quarantining wasn't enough. First off, the garden in the compost area has just gone crazy. I have probably the world's largest single watermelon plant! I'm not kidding.I I bought one little plant at Lowe's, planted it in the compost pile that had only rested a few months, expected it to die, and was completely surprised when not only did it not die, but became steroidal. The plants I planted are about 10  times the size of the ones T planted in the front yard. After this harvest, we are going to mix several wheel barrows of compost in with his garden for next year. He is growing things, just not as big or as many as mine. He is really excited to see the fruits of his labor. He proudly shows off his 3  green beans, one pepper, one jalepeno, one tomato, and 5 corn. I am super happy that he will get some things. I hope the okra and cantaloupes grow too. If I really do get the 200 w

The Bunch Head to Ft Richardson

We have not had our camper out since last November when we braved the not only the below freezing weather, but also 40 mile an hour winds to visit the Silos in Waco. We were a little out of practice with packing and getting ready for a travel day, but we managed to get everything done the day before except pulling the jack up to haul the trailer. We were able to move through most of our travel day at a nice easy pace with no stress. We were only going about an hour and a half west and with a check in time between 2-5, we weren't in any kind of hurry. In typical Murphy 's law fashion, that was the best part of our day.  It was beyond humid outside so in order to have the trailer NOT be 120 degrees inside when we arrived (and yes it really does get that hot) we decided to run the a/c for a few hours before we left so it would have a good start at being at a livable temperature when we arrived. We are putting in hook ups at the house for the rv, but haven't yet. We are pluggin

The Bunch Start Post Quarantine Week#12

We were ready and excited to go do something! Oh, the post quarantine life. We now expect face masks, social distancing, and limited opportunities to leave the house.  However, things are slowly becoming a little more normal. We ventured out to Oklahoma this week (ok maybe it isn't really venturing since Oklahoma is only 30 miles away, but it was an adventure). We headed north to visit Arbuckle Wilderness, a drive thru safari park. While Glen Rose's Fossil Rim Wildlife Park is a lot bigger and more structured, this one was about an hour closer. It only took us about an hour to get there and luckily as we got in line to buy our tickets D realized that  we needed gas. We left and went to the nearest gas station called Arbuckle Mountain. They are also apparently well known for their fried pies. I generally hate all fried food, but just the delicious smells we smelled as we walked through the store to use the bathroom made me decide I would relent and let the kids buy some to
