The Bunch Stay Indoors During This Cold Winter Like Weather

A made us fried oreos since we couldn't go to the state fair.  I am not a fan of being cold. I live in Texas so I am well acclimated on how to not over heat, but these abnormal cold snaps are not enjoyable. First off any cold, rainy, windy, hot, or any other weather related phenomena, the animals still have to be cared for. That means cleaning, feeding, watering, and doing anything else required at least twice a day. Though to be fair, I just bought a hay net big enough to hold an entire days worth of food for the horses so now on those really icy, cold days I only have to do it once. I feel like some kind of grassy Santa Claus heading out there with 25 lbs of hay slung over my back in a white sack and, of course, the horses are super excited to see me (ok they probably are really only excited for the food, but I pretend it's for me). This week was your typical January weather pattern, except in October! At least the rain was no where near as much as the weathermen predicted it

The Bunch Go Camping and Paint Pumpkins

Another fun family trip! We just arrived back home after yet another fun and relaxing weekend camping trip. The weather was wonderful, though a little chilly if you were just sitting still. Unfortunately, my legs were really acting up so we weren't able to hike as much as I hoped. I can be sensitive to weather changes and the cold front that came through was cold enough to cause me some problems. It is super frustrating that I have to deal with it at all, but I am managing fairly well. It doesn't flare up all the time so I guess it could be worse. I still hate feeling like a little old lady though when it does flare up.  After all our pandemic camping, I am very surprised that so many states are not allowing camping still. The only interaction with someone we had was when we checked in. The sites are well spaced out and nobody wanders around. Everyone just stays at their site, goes to the lake, or hikes on the trails. We did pass a couple of people on the trails, but there wasn

The Bunch Enjoy the Nice Weather

Enjoying a beautiful evening Ok. Today is like 26 mph winds so the weather isn't as nice as it has been, but overall we have spent a lot of time outside lately enjoying the cooler weather. Yes, low eighties is cooler for Texas. What has really helped is the drier air.  Lovely Sunset. Our original plans to head to Copper Breaks State Park to star watch had to be changed. Because of the pandemic, there are so many more rv'ers that even on a weekday at a fairly unknown park you need a reservation at least a month in advance. Basically, my wait to check the weather and then reserve doesn't work now. We are instead heading back to Eisenhower State Park in Lake Texoma again. We had such a wonderful time last time that we hope to repeat the pleasant experience sans car sickness. We did book the Copper Breaks Park for another time and it will be a new moon then so star viewing should be even better, except now I can guarantee there will probably be a storm or a lot of clouds. The Bunch Go Camping!!!

T made the most of the wind before we left. Iris was very interested in the scary kite! With all this craziness about Covid 19 taking our usual extended vacations in the camper have been postponed indefinitely. In fact, we will only be staying in our state and only go out for 2-3 days at a time, though that is more because of the animals than the illness. The horses and chickens are only good for a couple of days on their own. If we are gone longer we hire a sitter, which we have and can easily call, but since nothing is open except hiking at the campgrounds a couple of days at a time is fine. No sense is paying a sitter for only being able to go hiking.  We decided to go back to Eisenhower State Park this trip. It kind of started our love of camping. D and I had asked for camping items for Christmas and our first big trip to try our hand at camping was to this state park. We were in a tent then and had an absolutely stunning site at the top of a cliff. I was about 7 months pregnant wi
