Goodbye, old friend! It was fun. For those who have been reading my posts for the past THIRTEEN years (crazy it has been that long) you might remember that in 2018, on a very cold, rainy morning in October, on our way to the grocery store we saw, a very wet about to give up on life, chicken in a ditch off of the highway. I stopped the car and L went to go retrieve her. She was in such bad shape that we weren't 100% sure it was even a chicken. It could have been a vulture. However, we put a cage in our kitchen with a heat lamp and rehabilitated her for a month. Not only was she a chicken, but she turned into our BEST chicken! She was so sweet and so loving with us that we bought more chickens that were her dominant breed (she was a mix and we know that because while she looked exactly like a speckled Sussex, she laid green eggs and ONLY Easter eggers lay green eggs).
