The Bunch Celebrate C and Grandpa's B-days

My first baby turned 32 this weekend and to celebrate we all packed up and made the hour and a half trek to C and H's Bonham lake house. C had asked for me to make him a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. I just vaguely remembered that when he was growing up we would periodically have a red velvet cake. It took me awhile to find the the recipe, but I finally did and it turned out FANTASTIC! A said it tasted like her childhood.🥰 We went out to eat at a burger place C recommended, but we arrived about an hour before they closed and the line was literally out the door. I have never seen a place so crazy busy! There was no room to sit at the restaurant so we took our burgers to go and ate C's house. The burgers were really good, but the fries were just ok. I would definitely eat a burger again , but probably wouldn't get any fries. We had a great time hanging out with C and H and celebrating C's birthday! This was A's first time seeing the new house. She though...

The Bunch Have A Spooktacular Halloween 👻🎃

Marty McFly- Back to the Future  Since Halloween was on a Friday and A had to work we celebrated a little bit on Thursday with A while she was home and then T and I had our normal Halloween day. Halloween isn't a huge holiday here, but as a tradition we usually make our jack o lanterns, watch Halloween themed tv shows or videos, and make fruit pizza and regular pizzas. Lately we have been having pizza on Wednesday after we visit Aunt P, so we weren't really in the mood for regular pizza, but the fruit pizza is always a hit so that stayed! We carved our pumpkins while A was home and watched the cartoon Legend of Sleepy Hollow. We had been reading the book and it was interesting how close the cartoon stayed to the book. I honestly can't remember a Halloween without watching the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. I remember watching it as kid and now my kids watch it every Halloween. It's a fun little tradition. We also watch Hocus Pocus every year.  We still didn't have any tr...

The Bunch Go Camping....Sort of

D, T, and I had plans to go camping for a couple of days for awhile, but T had a meeting he couldn't miss with his scout group. The boy is crazy busy all the time. Even A said that he is never here. However, I am not having to take him to all his activities so it doesn't effect me too much, but we do miss being able to hang out frequently with him. It's just him getting ready to be an adult. Because of this, and the fact he's completely trustworthy, D and I have decided to go on some trips without him and leave him here with A. We have our family trips planned that even A will come with us, but there will also be a couple that will be just D and I.  I am frequently alone at the house which feels just weird since for so long the house was just crazy loud and always full. I miss the craziness and doing everything together, but I am so happy they are starting to have their own lives. I really, really look forward to grand babies I can spoil and create memories with! Si...

The Bunch Play Pickleball Again

I had to get A a wig since I got T a wig.....she looks good! We have been just enjoying life the past couple of weeks. I honestly just forgot about updating the blog last week. We made it to our weekly pickleball game after missing the past two weeks. This time according to the kids " the world is as it should be". Yep, they won this time. They can't go next week though because T got them tickets to a show so D and I will get our practice time in. We'll see how the match the following week goes!  Sam's club has a year membership for $15 right now so we bought a membership to check it out. I haven't been to a Sam's since I had to buy diapers for the kids. The kids went with me to check it out and while we loved it, it was a bit overwhelming. I have been told the one by us is one of the biggest/busiest. I believe it! We went at 10:30am on a Thursday and it was crazy! The checkout was 30 people deep! There was so much to see. We just stuck to food and groce...

The Bunch Visit Family

A found lots of glass soda bottles at World Market. T has created a glass bottle soda monster! We had both a busy and fun week! The kids and I went to visit with my parents one afternoon. Truth be told, A, my mom, and I went to do some snooping at World Market. World Market is kind of like a rich man's Trader Joe's, but with less frozen food and more furniture. We hadn't been snooping around there in quite awhile. They have so many different things from other countries to try that the hard part is NOT getting too much in one trip. We got a couple of things we really liked, several that were ok, and a couple we spat out and threw the rest away. They had their advent calendars out already so now we're set for the holiday season, which is rapidly approaching. T stayed back at the house to play checkers with Grandpa. He is getting closer to winning! He said Grandpa's strategy is to take so long on his turn that you forget what you were doing.😂 He's not wrong. I alw...

The Bunch Say Goodbye To T

He is ready for the weekend! This past weekend was T's first camping trip of many this season with his scout group. He left on Friday afternoon and came back Sunday afternoon. They actually only went about 20 minutes away, but he had a great time. They are working on an aquatic badge so not only did they swim and learn life saving water techniques, but they also rented a boat and worked on boat safety while having a healthy dose of fun being pulled behind it! He was super tired when he came home and had a few blisters from holding on to the rope while being pulled by the boat, but he still summoned up the energy to go play at the local bar for his music recital. He is so incredibly busy that we are taking a hiatus from his guitar lessons to create more down time. We kept scheduling things and forgetting he had a class so instead of paying for each session we missed we decided to take a break for the rest of the semester until things calm down a little. He has been complaining abo...

The Bunch Are Ready For Fall To Come Back

A and I at our favorite venue. We LOVE Bass Hall. I must admit that we are pretty tired of the crazy hot weather. We are ready to go back to the temps we had at the beginning of September. We played pickleball again this week, but D had required overtime to work so just T, A, and I went. We played singles and winner played the next person or A and I played together against T.  We ended up in full sun and the humidity was a killer. We are happy that the cold front is coming through this week and the mornings should be in the 60s or low 70s with low humidity. It should be super nice to play in. T won every game we played, but A and I together definitely made him work harder! We still had a lot fun. We decided against our usual post game Braums. We all were hot and really just wanted to get home to the a/c.  A won the lottery for tickets at Bass Hall to see the Life of Pi. We were up in the upper gallery, but that might have been beneficial for this show. The animal puppet...
