Mommy and Daddy Turkey with their babes!
|
My kids are always quick to let me know how much they want a pony, what kid doesn't? We live in the city on less than a .25 acres and it is against city ordinance to have anything other than a dog, cat , or fish, but that doesn't stop them from the constant whining. It is as if they think I can change something and just bring a horse home. Unfortunately for them, even if we could have one I still do not WANT one. They are a lot of work and I like to travel way too much to tie ourselves down like that. Our adventure this week was to a horseback riding clinic. The lady who owns the Sonlight Stables ministry gives free lessons and clinics during the summer. It is a wonderful thing she does since most kids in the city do not ever get to see a farm much less experience it. She holds clinics on how to raise your own chickens and even offers free swim lessons. The girls took a 3 hour class on horse basics and riding. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Mommy, Daddy, and the youngest...not so much. The class was great, but we sat outside in the Texas heat for three hours just staring at them. T was only interested in angry birds for so long. It was neat to see the turkeys and chicken just roaming about though. Almost makes me want to move away from all the people in the city and relax in the country. I probably would enjoy it until I had to drive 30 minutes to get to the store.

We have so much fun on the beach......a lot nicer than the Gulf Coast Beach! |
After the morning lessons we headed to the lake to cook out for lunch and relax in the cool water. It was quite cool, but I know a month from now it will feel like warm bath water so I try to be grateful for it now. Our next adventure is to six flags. This will be the youngest's first trip so hopefully we will have fun and he won't get to overcome by the heat. Last time we went with the girls it was about 105 and this time it is only suppose to be in the 90's. However, hot is hot and with 4 kids I am pretty sure that at least one of them will complain about it!
