The Bunch Finish Summer

My baby's $3000 smile!

We have had a fun summer. We usually do not travel during the summer. It just gets too hot to camp so we will start our trips back up in the fall. This also gives us an opportunity to check out different amenities the metroplex offers. This month we did several things. One of our favorite trips was to the Palace Theatre in Grapevine. The Theatre has been refurbished to be similar to what it was like about 100 years ago when it opened. The history there was incredible. I could image the patrons dressed up in their best clothes watching the performance before heading out to their carriages to go home. I love the early frontier period. I find it so fascinating. I wonder if 150 years from now if others will regard us in the same way. We watched a ballet of Wizard of OZ. My 4 year old said he liked it, but prefers it when they talk (i.e. play not ballet).
We also toured the Bureau of Printing and Engraving. It was really interesting. I had no idea how long it takes to make each bill. What a process! The kids were fairly interested in this, but only because they got to use phones for the self guided tour.
We also checked out the fire fighter museum in Ft Worth. It was interesting to see how much had changed since the 1800's. I was surprised the city was as busy as it was. I always picture everyone back then with lots of farm land, but that was most definitely not the case

Cute photo op at the firehouse.

For date day my husband and I checked out the historical park in both Carrollton and Farmers Branch. The one in Farmers Branch was too cool for words. It was more like a historical village. They had a cabin from the late 1700's to a house from the 1950's and everything in between, including an exact replica general store and train car. We were the only ones insane enough to go in the Texas heat, but it was so worth it because we got a private tour of all the buildings. The best part is the park is FREE!
One of the several COMPLETELY furnished historical house at the Farmers Branch Historical Park.

A restored church with the original pulpit and pews, which are surprisingly comfortable.

Next week we start back to school, where does the 3 months go ? I have everything ready to go, including a new desk and chairs from IKEA to start the year off right. I have discovered that we will not be going to IKEA on a Tues. during the summer because it is kids eat free day and it was Crazy! We had a good summer, but we look forward to our next adventure in the fall!

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
