411 The Walters Bunch

We had a wonderful time during the holidays this year. I pray each and everyone of you have a great and wonderful new year. In keeping with tradition each of our children was allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve after church. T opened his ninja outfit the girls got him. He looks cute doesn't he!  The kids actually slept until 7am this year! Yay! T received Star Wars themed gifts from us, though D has informed me the movies were mostly for him!  My sugar addict daughter asked for the large Jelly Bean mix. It came with 40 different flavors. She was ecstatic. My oldest daughter has become obsessed with Audrey Hepburn. I have no idea where she picked this up since I do not watch any of her stuff, but the blanket is very soft and she loved it. Every year Santa hides clues for the kids to find their last present. They love the treasure hunt and look forward to it each year. They have said that it is there favorite part......I doubt that. They love everything about

Wow, I am sorry it has been so long  since my last post. We have been very busy getting ready the holiday season. First, T has been losing teeth left and right. Seriously, he has lost 3 teeth THIS WEEK and has more loose! I told him if he loses anymore we will have to buy him baby food to eat. T's new toothless grin! T just moved up from his white belt to his gold belt in karate. I was very proud of him because of his entire group he was recognized in front of everyone as having the best form. I usually do not take him to karate so when I went to watch on belt test day I was very pleasantly surprised to see how much better he had become in the past few months. Way to go T! T getting his new belt! I had been working on Indian shirts and a turkey shirt for Thanksgiving. My wonderful husband was willing to let me make him a turkey to contrast our Indians. Merida, Good Witch, and Harry Potter Straw curls were super bouncy! My baby dressed in his super cool snuggie....that in itself was commented on a lot! The kids had decided about two months ago what they would be for Halloween.  L picked a good witch, T was going to be Harry Potter, but without glasses and a wand (I guess those were deemed too hard to trick or treat wearing) and A was going to be a medieval princess. The day before Halloween A decides she rather go as Merida (princess from Brave). Okay the only thing we need is orange hair paint so we are able to do that. We decided to try straw curls to get Merida's super curly curls. Yep, you read that right curls set with straws. We took slightly damp hair and used about 40 flexible straws and tied them in her hair. We waited about 6 hours and then "set" them with a hair dryer on high for about 5 minutes, then we proceeded to take them out. Much to my surprise and amazement they made very bouncy and

Kids play with a sculpture exhibit while at the State Fair of TX. It is that time of year again. I smell the grease in the air and the asphalt. It is State Fair time. I get excited once I hear on the news about what yummy stuff is being fried this year (on that note NEVER try the fried bubble gum). Those of you that know me well are probably wondering what I am talking about since you know I almost never eat anything fried, mostly because of gall bladder issues, but when our crew of 5 (6 if the oldest one joins us) heads out we pick out 3 fried foods to try and literally only get one bite each so it's not too bad. While our July was super awesome this year, the same cannot be said for October. It was 95 on the day we went to the fair with about 60% humidity. WE WERE MISERABLE! We only stayed for about 4 hours because of the heat, but that still gave us time to watch 2 different pet trick shows and sampled the fried Philly cheese steak and the fried breakfast for dinner. What you can't see is a lemur in cage to the top right that almost pooped on us! We have be busy with school and have completed 25% of our year so far. That means 75% left until next summer! We are needing a little break so went to the home school day at Sharkarosa. It is a lot of fun. it is similar to a zoo, but has informational talks scheduled throughout the day about all the animals they keep; most of which have been rescued. It is geared towards school age children. They also have a "train" that takes you through the different pastures where you get up close to several varieties of exotic animals. The weather was beautiful, but a little warm at 86. We had a great time and enjoyed the baby kangaroos and lemurs; I could have done without the close up of the cobra though. Of the six people in our immediate family, 3 of us have a birthday with in 10 days of each other. This means that the oldest daughter and youngest son always have a combined party and I spend my birthday planning what they will we do for their birthday. We have so many treats that week that I literally can't even think of butter or sugar with out feeling sick. This year my daughter wanted a movie star theme and my son lego star wars. I call it Hollywood Legos. I made some light sabers from pool noodles, turned the front door into a Lego, and my daughter made a red carpet star walk. We took the kids to the trampoline park down the street, but were disappointed in it. They had fun, but the one we went to for their cousins birthday the month before in Keller was a lot more fun.  My kids had fun though so that was all that mattered.
