The Bunch Start the New Year

We had a great Christmas, but had what I refer to as sicktember. All month long one of us was ill. Why is it you can never all be sick at the same time so you can be over and done with it in a week? Instead, slowly one by one we each fell ill and I spent the better part of a month doling out medicine, taking kids to the doctor, and spraying my Lysol spray.  For those of you who are shocked I actually used chemicals to  sanitize instead of my all natural stuff, I felt it was needed because it felt like the all natural stuff wasn't being effective enough (otherwise we wouldn't all be sick and after a couple weeks desperation set in). We were literally house bound by someone being ill for the whole month. Thankfully, the only one of us who caught the flu bug was the one who was the least ill.
He even slays dragons in his sleep.

We are down to our last 14 weeks of school. Yeah! I am as ready for summer as the kids! We have a few fun trips planned and I can not wait, except for maybe the 16 hours there and back in the car with the kids. I am just going to record "No, we are not almost there yet" and "You can't possibly need to stop to use the bathroom already." That way I can just hit play as frequently as they need to hear it.
Homeschool field trip to the police station.

The officer goes through his typical day.

Hard to believe, but they were all facing forward AND smiling.

We are starting Girl Scout Cookie season. As many of you know, this is where each year girl scout families alienate friends, family, and co-workers by cornering them into purchasing boxes of cookies. This year the council had the idea that instead of seeing what people wanted to order first and then get the cookies that were ordered, each girl scout family had to purchase the cookies themselves beforehand, essentially guessing at what they would sell. Of course no one guessed with 100% accuracy and now in a desperate move not to end up with $400 of unsaleable cookies the scouts are becoming more aggressive in trying to sell them. I might need to put up a "I already have girl scout cookies" sign on my front door. Thanks to everyone who bought from us, so far we only 40 boxes left over, but at $4 a box it can still add up.
Finally, we experienced a last first. This week our youngest son lost his first tooth. It was bitter sweet. He is growing up and we no longer have any really young children, which at my age is a relief since I have no energy left for one. However, at the same time it means I am getting closer to having ALL my children out of the house and not just my oldest. While they can greatly test my patience, I will really miss them terribly when they are all grown up and out of the house. I will no longer homeschool them and will have unlimited amounts of extra time. I guess only God will know what I will do to fill my time, but I am trying to enjoy my last firsts as much as I can before they are all gone!

It was hard on us all!

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
