We have been so very busy and will be extremely busy all summer, but I will get to that in a minute. First, let me catch you up on what the clan has been up to this past month.
First off our eldest son, C., switched jobs. He had been making really good money as a used car salesman, but grew really tired of all the hours he had to work, 70 hour weeks were not uncommon. One of his customers owned a construction company and offered him a job. He decided to try it out and so far seems to really like being in control of his schedule and responsible for his own work. He still is renting a house nearby and plans to buy his own next summer. It is hard to believe he will be 23 this fall. He came over this weekend and D helped him build his horse (great dane) a crate. I think it will look really nice when he is done. It will take a crew of men to be able to lift it though!
The younger kids finished their PE class and field day was a blast! Except A didn't like that she had to get wet. All of the coach's homeschool PE classes from 5 different cities were there and they had a blast playing water kickball, tug of war, flag football, and several other field day games. It actually gave us a break from the rain that day and the clouds kept it nice and cool. I hope we will be able to continue with this group.
The girls finished school last Friday. Yay! We get an 8 week break before we start back at the end of July. D decided to be T's cub leader next year. You can expect a cute picture of him in his uniform....well both of them actually. I am going to be L's American Heritage Girls leader. No cute uniform though, just red polo shirt and khakis.
We have most of our fall trip planned out and we will really need a vacation after this summer because we are spending the entire summer doing manual labor getting our house ready to sell. Yep, that's right. The person who said she never wants to move because the stress isn't worth it wants to move. What was the tipping point you ask? Was it the fact that half my kitchen appliances are stored in the garage because the kitchen has no room? Nope. Was it the fact I only have an 18 inch path to navigate through the garage to get to our school supplies? No. Was it the fact the girls stuff is spread out into 5 different rooms because the room they share is too small? Nope. Doesn't everyone keep baby dolls in their living room and books in the linen closet? no, the tipping point for me was having all my recipes fall off the counter and land in the dog's water, ruining most of them. While we love our house, and especially the fact that it is almost paid off, we agree that the girls need their own room, we need a gameroom for the pool table instead of the garage, and a study for our school room so that the dining room can be used for its intended function. We also want at least an acre. This pretty much eliminates anything remotely close to D's work. it will take some time getting use to a 45 mile commute as opposed to a 5 mile commute, but that is our trade off.
So basically, we have decided to move and go on a month long sojourn at the same time. I will let you know how it turns out!
