The Bunch Freeze in Branson, MO

Branson, KOA

Daily dog walk while at the KOA

Cute Downtown Branson

Us and the "normal" trailers, that usually only have 2 people in them.  Aren't we cute!?

Despite the freezing cold forecast, we were determined to enjoy our 2nd annual Branson, MO trip. We knew it might snow and definitely would be bitter cold while we were there, but we were determined to go on with our plans and adjust them if needed. It turned out to be a good thing because while it did sleet and snow a bit on our first day there, the worst of the storm went farther north of us.  The cold weather did cause a few adjustments to our trip. For example, with a high below freezing, hiking was out. Instead, we went to historic downtown and enjoyed looking around and shopping. Their historic downtown is super cute. I will say it was hard to sleep at night in the pop up. Normally, we run one heater turned about halfway up and stay comfortably warm, but here with lows in the low teens we had two heaters running full blast almost constantly and still slept in sweats and a jacket. IT WAS COLD! We did have a cable hook up so the kids were excited to watch some shows on ABC Family when we needed a break from doing stuff out in the cold.  The stupid dog once again broke her tail open and was busy painting the bottom half of the camper in her blood, but this time we actually put gauze and duct tape directly on her tail. This made it stay on and consequently she stopped painting the camper. However, removing said tape from the hair on her tail was NOT a fun experience for any of us, though D did a pretty good job of not  making her look too stupid when he cut it off.
This did NOT work. The tape method was used next and that did manage to work.

The historic trolley

It was free to ride and worth it to get around downtown. It is HORRIBLY busy, even on an off day it was crazy.

The original 5 & 10 in Branson...though nothing was a nickel or a dime.

Our most favorite thing we did on this Branson trip was probably lunch on the Showboat Branson Belle. The food was fantastic and the show was great. It is always us and the other 80 year olds at the shows. I am pretty sure I never saw any another children except mine the entire trip. Branson, at least when we go, definitely caters to an older retired  crowd, which makes it a more relaxed trip. No one is ever in a hurry. It is more like a celebration they made it another day. They did have a homeschool day at the adventure park while we were there, but we didn't attend. I am not sure where the kids come from for that, but they must commute from outside the city limits. We also went to the Christmas Wonderland show which was okay. The girls liked it, but I was a little disappointed and the boys didn't want to go in the first place. My mother, T, L, and D had a blast doing the zipline also. A and I decided it was too cold and too expensive to be that miserable. We might try it next time IF it is warmer.

Mel's Hard Luck Diner-servers sing while serving--Some have made it pretty far on American Idol--They were good!!!

Old steamboat with a three course meal and show. The food was fantastic.

L and D had a great time too, but it was COLD!

College of the Ozarks campus.

The famous dam. It supplies electricity for most of Branson!

Fish Hatchery

We had fun feeding the fish--there were thousands!

It was a large hatchery.

It was nice that we were able to hire someone to watch the chickens. I had the sitter text me after her visit everyday just to give us piece of mind. It worked. I was able to relax and enjoy our trip without worrying the hens had frozen water or no water because they knocked it over. Now that we are back, we are introducing the new hen -that  we found half dead in a ditch- to the others. She has made a nice recovery in the past three weeks. So far, the original flock is being pretty mean to the new girl. They won't let her in the coop and chase her around the pen, but we try not to interfere because once the pecking order is down then they should calm down a lot.

Happy Thanksgiving Every One!

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
