The Bunch In Quarantine Week #11

We have been watching "virtual vacations" and are really ready to get out and do something. Which by the way, the Monterey Bay aquarium and Georgia aquarium look awesome...at little too far for a trip right now though. I know there is a somewhat decent aquarium in Dallas that I thought might be fun to visit since we can't go to California right now (and never really want to again anyways). However, the problem with the Dallas Aquarium is, oh yeah, it's in DALLAS. Dallas is STILL in an almost full shut down mode. I foresee a lot of people leaving Dallas after all of this. I know I would, but then again I would have never lived in Dallas to begin with. Since Dallas is completely out of the question, we decided we will head to Oklahoma instead. We live only about 30 miles from the border and pretty much all of Oklahoma is open. This next week we are going to visit Arbuckle Wilderness, which is a drive thru animal park. Since TX state parks had been closed to

The Bunch In Quarantine in Week 10

D is ready for his Zoom Court appearance  Things maybe opening in Texas, just like the rest of America, but things are still very different.  The local donation center was finally open AND accepting donations so D and I were able to drop off all the donations that were just sitting in the back of the SUV for the past 2 months! One of the first things we did in lock down was to clean the garage and afterwards we realized it could be awhile before we could take our donations in. The kids also have been bored enough to thoroughly clean their closets and dressers out. Basically, we had a lot of stuff to drop off and I am so happy to have my car empty again. Afterwards, D and I went out for lunch. Correction, we tried to go out for lunch.  Many restaurants were either still completely closed or only doing take out still. We finally gave up and just went to Taco Cabana's drive thru and ate in the parking lot. It doesn't make a whole lot of since to eat in the parking lot whe

The Bunch in Quarantine Week #9

This past week many things have opened up in Texas. You can pretty much go anywhere , but with major restrictions. Unfortunately, gyms, sports programs, and summer camps are NOT among them. In fact, the girls aerial gym has decided not to try opening until mid June at the earliest and will only have 3 classes a day at half capacity. It was hard enough to get the girls into a class with a limit of 12. I can't even imagine how hard it will be to get them into a class of 6 only offered once a week! My poor kids really miss seeing their friends, but it looks like this next summer and probably fall, we won't be able to see much of them. Even though most things are starting to open and we have been anxiously awaiting the ability to get out, we did not go anywhere this week. D and I spent the weekend adding an overhang to the barn so that the horses can have shade, but still feel the breeze. Ok, D built the overhang with T's help and I played with and took cute pictures of a

The Bunch in Quarantine Week 8 ....Sort Of

God Bless Texas! The restrictions are being lifted. Life is starting to feel a little more normal. We have no plans for a big party or anything, but I must admit it that it feels wonderful to have options to get out of the house. This week we went to the zoo nearby. They allow pass holders to enter an hour before they open to the public. They are restricting visitors to 365 people a day so we went early to make sure we could enter and because less people are usually out early in the morning. We were literally the only ones there for the first hour. It was wonderful. The employees were just arriving to start feeding the animals. All the animals were being let out and being very active as they waited for breakfast. I don't think we saw one animal just sitting there or napping! Every one was moving around and eagerly awaiting breakfast. Since we were the only ones around we decided to take off our masks and just enjoy the beautiful day. We are celebrating the ability to go do som
