We have been watching "virtual vacations" and are really ready to get out and do something. Which by the way, the Monterey Bay aquarium and Georgia aquarium look awesome...at little too far for a trip right now though. I know there is a somewhat decent aquarium in Dallas that I thought might be fun to visit since we can't go to California right now (and never really want to again anyways). However, the problem with the Dallas Aquarium is, oh yeah, it's in DALLAS. Dallas is STILL in an almost full shut down mode. I foresee a lot of people leaving Dallas after all of this. I know I would, but then again I would have never lived in Dallas to begin with. Since Dallas is completely out of the question, we decided we will head to Oklahoma instead. We live only about 30 miles from the border and pretty much all of Oklahoma is open. This next week we are going to visit Arbuckle Wilderness, which is a drive thru animal park. Since TX state parks had been closed to camping except for already existing reservations, we also decided we would go camp in Oklahoma (so much for that TX state park gift card we got for Christmas). But then........Hallelujah! The TX State Parks just announced that they are now allowing new camping reservations. I immediately logged in and tried to make a reservation. Almost 2 hours later, I realized that they weren't ready for all transactions to be online and that the main number to call to "fix" things makes you leave a number that they "will call back within a week". I just called the park we planned to visit and explained the issues I was having and she just said to book the site for 1 person and that they can fix everything once we arrive. I will let you know if that is in fact true after we visit the park in a couple of weeks. At this point, we really don't care. We just need a change of scenery.
In the last 2 weeks we have had almost 9 inches of rain (8.96 to be exact). The ground is so muddy and disgusting. Even the horse and chicken coops are completely soaked on the inside. In some spots the ground is so soft that D and I sink 4 inches when we walk. I am really tired of every time it rains, we seem to get 2 inches or more. At least the weather should be dry for a few days now so we can dry out.

My other "raincoat" had to be "retired" so I made a new one! |
It is just as disgusting and slippery as it appears. |
Mud EVERYWHERE! |
A front shot and look how proportional she looks! She has lost so much weight that she looks completely different! it looks way drier that it really is |
Even their shelter has turned into a mud mess (which rarely happens unless we get a HUGE amount of rain). This is the before shot. |
The after shot looks worse, but it wasn't. We have to remove the wet chips so the floor can dry properly. It is a serious workout to clean out all the wet muddy shavings. They were super heavy! |
T has been cooking up a storm from his John Wayne cookbook. I have to say I love this cookbook. Not only is T wanting to cook a lot of the meals, but all the recipes so far are really yummy. The John Wayne cookbook is to T what the pioneer woman cookbook is to L.
T made banana muffins...gluten and dairy free and still one of the best muffins recipes we have ever had! |
He also made a key lime pie...NOT gluten and dairy free, but also yummy. |
Not to be out done, L made a treat from her Mary Berry cookbook. (Her next favorite cookbook after the pioneer woman) |
T finding something to do on no tv Tuesdays. |
He can be very creative when boredom sets in! |
