The Bunch Get L Registered For Her College Classes!

We drew "make playdough and play" out of the fun jar. We are going to give the playdough to one of T's teammates little sisters now that we are done. It's official! L is a college student pursuing a degree in Graphic Design and Photography! What is nice is that a few years ago a law was passed that allowed community colleges to offer 4 year degree plans. Right now L is enrolled in an AAS, but should she decide to pursue a BA it will be quite easy for her to do so at her current college. I always thought it was stupid community colleges weren't allowed to issue 4 year degrees. Some people don't want massive amounts of debt, especially now. I took several summer classes at community college and had professors that taught at Harvard during the regular sessions teach me so the quality is there. I will be very happy if my girls both get degrees and don't have massive amounts of debt. D has crazy amounts of student loans for his MS and they won't be paid o

The Bunch Babies FINALLY Start Laying!!!

Baby hen egg next to a normal hen egg. Yes, we have chickens that lay blue and green eggs! Obviously, that doesn't include Mr. Murdoch, though he has learned how to sing the egg song. He is very confused! After what has felt like an eternity, but in reality was just a super long 5 months, the new hens are starting to lay! So far only 3-4 of the 9 have started laying, but all of them should be laying within the next 2 weeks. The first eggs are about half the size of a normal egg, but after about 6 weeks they'll be normal size. All I know is caring for 21 chickens is a lot more work than caring for 12! I figured it would be pretty much the same stuff we have to do every day, but in reality it is the same stuff we were doing now we just do it twice as long! They are super fun to watch though and even though we are no longer worried too much about Mr. Bobcat, I still sometimes just sit out there with them in the morning and watch them. Both T and L have completely recovered from

The Bunch Have A Fun Week!

A third place mullet!!!! We are so proud! 🤣 What a great week! T and L went to Falls Creek this week in Oklahoma and, as expected, had a fun, tiring time. D and I managed to get away for two nights to Eisenhower State Park, which now has full hook ups at every rv site, and spent a couple of days relaxing. The only one who didn't have anything fun to go do this week was A. Everyone's gift to her was peace and quiet to do her school work in with no one home! This year the church chartered a bus to take them to camp and back. The kids were really excited to have nice seats, working a/c, and a bathroom on board. Last year they had their bus breakdown on the way home and it left everyone stranded on the side of the highway on a 100+ degree weather. It would have been much faster to just drive to camp and pick them up instead of waiting on them to get back to the church. This year, with a chartered bus, everyone got to ride on one bus. It was so great to see on Monday morning how ex

The Bunch Build Another Coop And Get Ready For Camp

A with the world's longest Hangman! It was a quote from Merlin (a great British series we have watched as a family about 5 times all the way through now). There is no denying my "manly girl" is a rooster. Mr. Murdoch, as we call him, has turned into a beautiful and very sweet (to us Not the hens) rooster. However, being raised by 20 girls has effected his personality. He knows he wants to crow and "interact" with the girls, but he has absolutely no innate calling to be their savior. If anything happens that he thinks is scary, he literally yells and runs away to hide. He is more of a every man for himself kind of rooster. He is also a big baby who hates being by himself. He will come to the back door and stare in and yell for me to come out and get him. It's really annoying! I am hopeful now that we have completed his bachelor's pad and I no longer bring him inside every night to sleep that he'll calm down and enjoy his freedom. I was pretty proud
