You know D feels pretty bad when he texts you in the middle of the afternoon that he's coming home from work. I had no idea he was even feeling bad. It hit pretty fast and was pretty brutal. He came home early, went straight to bed, and didn't get out of bed until I physically made him after about 24 hours. I did wake him occasionally to eat, drink, and take some meds, but he pretty much just slept that entire time. It's almost been a week now and he still isn't 100% but he is doing a lot better than the first couple of days. He only worked one day this week because we had taken off to take the dogs on a practice camping trip together. With D being sick though and it being so cold we decided not to go. Instead we are going to take the dogs out to the camper to watch a movie or something and let Axl be introduced to the camper. He is a little 90 year old man and hates change so this should fun. Fortunately, the kids and I haven't caught D's illness yet and I really hope we don't because it seems pretty bad.
T is going on a trip with the youth group this weekend. They have a pretty packed schedule, but he is going to have so much fun! Since D and I are just here and A has to work, we plan to go out to dinner and see a movie. I literally can't remember the last time we saw a movie with just us. It must be at least 15 years. We also have kept pretty busy getting stuff done around the house. My 80 year old neighbor told me about the auction site www.lotsofauctions.com and let's just say I have gone a little crazy! It's like a local eBay but with new stuff and you have to go pick it up. They have one in Denton and one in Dallas. I only pick up from Denton since it is so much closer, but you bid on what you want and you have to pick it up within 7 days. Now, they do add a 15% buyers fee and about $1-$3 per item for the lot fee depending on what you buy, but there are some crazy deals! I bought a new chandelier to replace the crazy hard to clean one in my dining room and only spent $25. That is the most I have spent on anything yet. I found D a new smart watch for only $3, a new outside pillar light for $5, a coffee warmer with a mug $3.50, and several other things. I have discovered though that to keep from getting in the bidding wars and over spending, I just set my max bid at around a third of the MSRP and leave it alone. If I win then I win, if not then there is also the next auction. They have one running constantly. I did have a couple of issues with one auction. My curtains turned out to be place mats and a large frame was broken, but they didn't even bat an eye at me returning them, just make sure it's within 7 days.
Axl is doing really well. He still gets pretty upset when there's any moisture in the air, but is doing well enough to not take his anxiety meds. He also really doesn't like fireworks or the neighbors shooting their guns. He is getting really close to 100 lbs now and for some reason loves to stand on your toes! It does not feel good. He and Maisy have been on several car rides together now and do wonderful riding together. The hardest part is getting Axl in the car.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week and doesn't catch the illness going around!

T's first sewing project were curtains for the backdoor. He did a really good job. We can't put the bottom rod in the curtains or the cats will pull them down. 😂 |
