It has been very nice lately temperature wise, albeit 40mph winds are a little much. We have decided our land has only two levels: completely muddy or so dry there are cracks in it. Apparently, whatever soil type we have now is just weird. It will stay so muddy for days after it rains that we are having to wash the dog's feet every time she comes in and out. I kid you not, we have our "doggy foot washing station" on the deck by the back door. It is a pain and I often wonder how can she get so muddy just prancing 30 ft from the deck to use the potty and immediately coming back in. It's not like we let her go play in the muck for hours, but literally 5 seconds or 2 hours, it makes no difference. She gets mud caked all in her nails and paws and we spent about 10 minutes cleaning her feet before she comes in. Needless to say, when it is muddy out; she goes out VERY little.
The other end of the pendulum is after a few days of horrible mud; we will wake up the next morning where not only is it no longer super muddy, but the ground is so dry that there are huge cracks everywhere. It is like there is no in between. Of course, some of it maybe the fact the previous owners were NOT in to landscaping at all and we have a bunch of weeds, not to mention ants, to deal with. I am hopeful once we are able to plant grass the mud issue will be rectified.
I think we have finally come to a collective agreement on our new church home. It is close enough I can still drive there if D has to work and has several activities we can all become involved in. We are really tired of always being the new people at the churches we visit and look forward to being able to be plugged in somewhere.
We celebrated my nephew's 15th birthday last weekend and I can't believe how fast time goes. It always amazes me how quickly life goes by. I guess that is why I like traveling as much as I do. I want to make fun memories for my kids and my husband and I before the kids are all moved out. After all the years of homeschooling, my life will be very different when they leave.
We have been busy getting some stuff done around the house. We received a chandelier from our memaw several years ago and decided it would make a nice family heirloom. Not only did we install it at our old house, but it made the move here also and we installed it the foyer. Unfortunately, it suffered a small break, but luckily it was on the bottom piece so we just removed that piece and it looks great. We also have been busy getting a half dead tree dug up and all the bushes out front. We just need to start over with the landscaping and now that everything is out as soon as it warms up a bit we can plant all the new landscaping.

My poor chandelier!
Doesn't it still look great? You can't even tell I took a piece off the bottom.
