I know it is technically NOT summer, but after Memorial Day summer in North Texas unofficially officially starts. This usually is marked by temps in the upper 90's and high humidity, but this year so far is great. We have only had a handful of days in the 90's and most have been in the low 80's. We also have had a lot of rain so things are still green instead of what I refer to as "summer brown", which should not be confused with "winter brown" that is completely dead looking.
We have had a great summer so far. We went to visit my in-laws for Memorial Day. It was the first visit since the move and we only gained about 10 extra miles. We brought the camper and stayed for a couple of days. They had a big lunch with most of the family and some distant relatives. It was great to visit with everyone.
A has started volleyball and has her first game on Saturday. She is by far of all my kids the hardest to get to try new things. She was born with a 90 year old man's mentality of nothing new should ever be experienced. I blame my husband. He has the same mentality just not quite as severe as hers. She took a ball to the face in practice that smashed her glasses and I thought for sure she would talk about quitting, but apparently she realized that I am going to make her try this and just huffed and puffed for a couple hours after practice, but never brought up quitting. She does this with everything, and I know after she gets use to it she will love it. This is gymnastics all over again and she completely loves her time at the gym. She is actually pretty natural at volleyball.
L has been busy helping me in the kitchen. She loves to cook and bake pretty much everything and I hate it so we are a great team. She feels like she gets to do something fun and I lose an extra chore. It's a win win.
All the kids and I have been attending the library specials that are offered in the summer. They have had different animals and birds and the keeper talks have been fascinating. I love our cute little small town more and more each day.

This owl has such puffed up feathers his body is 2 inches below feathers! |
Complete wings to see differences in types of birds. Completely morbid! |
They had whole feet too! Girls wouldn't touch them. |
8 week old lemur wearing a diaper. So precious! |
