We are down to ONLY one free loader chicken now (excluding the roosters)! The one not laying is, of course , the one that L loves to cart around and baby. It is the Lucy to my Ethel (told you I raise my kids on 1960's sitcoms). They really are named Lucy and Ethel. Yes, the kids named them themselves, which is why one is called Jim Jr. to replace the one that passed last year. Yes, it stands for Painless Potter and Jim Hunter from Paleface. The roo is named Painless, which I feel so stupid yelling "stop Painless" as he very obviously is NOT being painless at that moment. The neighbors are old enough though that they might get the Paleface reference and if not, I am sure that is probably one of the least weird things we have done. I think washing chicken butts on the picnic table might be the most weird....or relaxing in the stock tank when it gets hot. Wow, we really are hillbillies now.
Sports camp was the crazy mess I knew it would be. Think rock concert meets sporting event meets church. You can't imagine that? Me either! Pure craziness is what it is. Oh, I am sorry, pure LOUD craziness is what it is! A actually said she was NEVER going again. Nope, she did not attend. She just went with me once to pick him up. It. was. that. crazy. T did have a blast though and I guess that was the overall goal, but now I think VBS is out because a week is NOT long enough to recover from camp and VBS is ALMOST as crazy. T pretty much only had enough energy to come home shower and veg out on the couch until bed, too bad we still had basketball practice AND double header back to back basketball games! I felt bad for him, but he really pushed through. He even scored the ONLY two points for one of his team's games (we don't talk about THAT, the games were a little frustrating).

Got to love the public school system |
In my on going effort to balance chores with fun, we took the kids to the Perot museum today. It was sort of an apology because we said we would put their swing set and monkey bars up this summer, but thanks to unforeseen issues with the pop up that has been put on hold while we essentially rebuild our pop up. We unfortunately had some water damage and did not realize it. Nothing more fun than spending all day for multiple days working tedious tasks in the blazing Texas sun so today's trip was fun for us too. I had never been before, but A had a girl scout sleepover there years ago and had always wanted to show us where she slept. Mission accomplished and it really didn't look very comfortable. If you have never been, it is a neat museum even if you don't have kids. It is five floors and lots of walking though. Luckily, D had a discount card, aka his police id, so it was only expensive instead of really expensive. We watched the Galapagos 3D movie and it was awesome. It was probably my favorite thing, but there was also an interactive sports level where you could pretend to race athletes or dinosaurs and the kids really liked that. Next time I think we will go across the street and visit the World Aquarium. We haven't been there in years and I remember really liking it.
