"Puddle" in the backyard that helps keep her feet clean. |
Remember this summer when I went out and measured the 30 inch plus cracks in the yard, well, that is NO more. We have had about 8 inches every month for the last 3 months! That is 24 inches of water. Our ground is so saturated it squishes up water when you walk on it. This means CONSTANTLY washing the dogs feet before she comes inside. It has been so bad that D and I last night were discussing which level of saturation we preferred. We both agreed that we prefer when there is standing puddles because then the dog runs through them she helps clean her feet. Of course, running through puddles means she gets mud all over her "under carriage" and we have to wipe that off too, but still easier than when there is only mud. When there is no puddles, she literally comes back to the door with "mud boots" and it requires several minutes of soaking and scrubbing to get her clean enough to be allowed in. Now, imagine repeating one of these scenarios MULTIPLE times a day for 3 months! Needless to say, we are tired of all the rain.

The "duck" coop |
D and I have just recently started leaving the kids at home for short periods of time while we go and do stuff. This past weekend we went out to dinner with a friend of his from work. It was fun. I still don't really trust the kids NOT to get into trouble so I bought them 2 movies on amazon, food for them to cook themselves for dinner, and set out multiple games for them to play. We were gone for about 2.5 hours. Yes, it was over kill, but they did great and seemed to have enjoyed their parentless night (though I did call 3 times during that 2.5 hours just to make sure things weren't getting too crazy).

We ate Thai...it was pretty good, but not our most favorite Thai place. |
The girls won their last volleyball game and have their playoffs on Saturday at the college during the same time as homecoming. Parking should be a nightmare. Usually our games and the colleges are at opposite times of the day so it doesn't really effect us. This is the first time we have had them overlap. This is their last week of volleyball for this season and then we have NO sports until T starts basketball in January. I like having them involved in sports and outside activities, but it is always nice to have a small break from late practice nights and busy Saturdays.
I am really excited about our upcoming trip! Branson is always a wonderful time and has so much to do on any budget, but also I finally found someone to hire to care for the chickens so I don't have to worry too much about them. I hate having to ask friends or family to check on them so finding someone I could just pay to come over once a day to check on them and clean them is fantastic. Hopefully, I can hire them again next year for our month long trip. We are Branson ready (crazy anti social dog included).

Grandma bought them pillows with sequins you can change to make "drawings" in your pillow....they can do this for HOURS! |
|
You Tube recommended these meatless burgers as being most like real hamburgers. They are called Beyond Burgers. |
|
My son hated them, L and I thought they were ok with ketchup, and A thought they were fantastic. I think they used hamburger seasoning and I do not like that. |

L has been busy getting ready for our family Halloween carnival...she is working on Maisy's outfit. |
