The Bunch Make It Through Our District Tournament....Barely

L and I LOVED our stadium chairs. It made such a huge difference at the end of the day, even more than my couch cushions did! Twice this month I have made a comment and God has shown his sense of humor. My first comment was about two weeks ago. We were on our way to a basketball game and I commented on how much better watching games were this year since the refs had been calling pretty fairly. I mentioned how nice it was not having to yell at them all the time (yep, I am that person. No apologies.)  That very game, not even an hour later, we had the most insane game ever. I swear they had to have paid off the refs. It was so horrible I refused to go the second time we played them, though D said it was actually pretty fair that time. The second comment was during this very recent tournament. We were into our third game, a couple of days into the tournament, and I commented to another mom about how this year it was so nice. The games were fairly called, the other teams and their parents

The Bunch Take T To The Orthopedic

He was devastated by what the doctor told him! It has been quite the crazy week here. First off, we did go see the new Avatar movie again. It was just to fun to see in 3D and we really wanted to experience it one more time before it leaves theaters and, bonus, Cinemark has discount Tuesdays for those of you who weren't aware.        Most of the rest of the week we dealt with health issues. No, none of us are actually sick. However, D started having unexplained nose bleeds. It is not a regular nose bleed, but a crazy blood just draining out nose bleed. This happened about every other day for a week randomly. Yes, he has a doctor's appointment this week. We checked his blood pressure and it was 179/117!! Luckily, he had some blood pressure medicine he had stopped taking last year and he started taking that again and right now he has lowered it to an average of 149/94, which while not great it has at least been enough to stop the crazy nose bleeds.    T also had to go to the Ort

The Bunch Have A Wonderfully Quiet Week

Yep, the blue headed lion is back! At least now she is only chewing up her  feet🐾 However, it still drives us CRAZY, just slightly less crazy than it was. Ahhhh. What a difference a week makes! This week there were no basketball games and only two practices. In fact, the kids and I didn't even leave the house for three days! We just enjoyed a nice relaxing pace and a lot of quiet time. We got caught up on school that we had not been able to finish last week due to the craziness of basketball and T even started reading the Lord of the Ring.  I decided that since our youngest chickens are now three years old and the rest are 6 years old and since as they age egg output declines, plus with eggs prices being so high that it just makes sense for us to get more chicks. I had hoped to get them this weekend so that by June they would be laying, but apparently this year no one has chicks yet so I guess we will get more in February and get more eggs by July. The kids were sad. They had be

The Bunch Have A Basketball Filled Week

The Champs  After last week's basketball craziness, I had been looking forward to a slower week this week, but unfortunately it did not happen. Instead of two practices and one game this week, our coach had an opportunity to enter our freshman team into a junior varsity tournament last minute. Another team had to drop out and there was an opening. Not only would we be playing up, but also this tournament was only one day meaning you played three games pretty much back to back. Tournaments like these I hate because it isn't based on a team's skills. Basically, the winner is just whose team has the most athletic endurance to play at such a high level for such an extended period of time. An added bonus was that we also had a game the night before AND would have to wake up by 4:30am to leave the house by 6:00am, in order to drive the TWO hours there. Hats off to our boys though. We struggled probably a little more than we normally do, but they pulled energy from somewhere and

The Bunch Celebrate The New Year

We have been so busy this week. T had two regular practices with a super hard game and 4 super hard tournament games. They actually lost their 3rd game of the season, but by no means should have! I have never seen such crazy biased calls from the refs! For example, whenever a ball gets stuck on the rim it's a dead ball. T jumped up to help knock it down and the ref said it was still in play so they got 2 pts. Basically, we lost by 4 points but should have won by about 20! We play them again next week and we better have different refs or I will probably get ejected from the game for arguing. So frustrating! The tournament went much better. Not just because we won three out of our 4 games, but also because the refs were fair. They let both teams get away with some things and called the similar offenses and the blatant personal fouls. The only team we lost to was Australia. Yes, they were really from Australia and let me tell you, they grow them big and aggressive there! I don't
