The Bunch Start Back to School!

In what has become an early August tradition, we have already started back to school. I figured since we home school and live in Texas that we might as well be doing something educational and structured while the heat of the end of the summer makes us virtual prisoners of our house, only after 10am of course. Essentially this means that all outdoor activity, a.k.a. recess, is done first. Lately, we have been riding bikes/jogging, jumping on the trampoline, and doing yoga as our physical education time. The hard part about starting "early" is that the home school activities we are involved in do not start until September. This is truly the only time I feel the HOME in home school. After that, we are rarely at home to do school. I prefer a hands on approach and while we follow a fairly stringent curriculum, I add all sorts of fun trips to it so that the kids can have a more hands on approach. We have been know to go on a trip for a day, a few days, or even a couple of weeks so that the children have an opportunity to have those experiences that tie into our lessons.
I know I said it a million times before, but homeschooling is such a great fit for our family. This week was wonderful. The kids fell flawlessly back into our routine that we completely abandoned at the end of last year. I was worried about L since we stopped her exactly half way through 1st grade, but she was great. she picked right back up like we never had a break. She does grade promotions in December, but we might double up this year so next year she can start 3rd grade and I won't have to worry about summer break. I haven't decided yet.
We went to the Ark at First Baptist Church of Coppell. It is an indoor park. The kids enjoy it, but I must admit when all the kids are out for summer and it gets really busy, I cannot wait until they are done playing and we can leave the madness. We decided not to do Six Flags this year because for some reason the heat is bothering us all a lot more than last summer. I hate wasting my free tickets, but I just cannot bring myself to endure an all day sweat fest. T was sad because this would have been his first year to attend with us. Maybe I will just take everyone to holiday in the park, at least it will be cooler.
I hope everyone enjoys the reappearance of the back to school routine as much as I do!
A. ready to take on the world of 4th grade!

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
