The Bunch do VBS

This was our first VBS experience at our new church in Denton. The youngest two were able to attend and the rest of us volunteered. D was a 5th grade group leader for 3 days until he had to return to work. A and I were in elementary crafts and had 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades. It was chaotic, but fun. This was A's first time volunteering and she said she has never been so tired! She did great though and was a HUGE help.

Kids showing me the moves to their VBS songs

A's volleyball team played fantastically last week and won all 3 sets in both games. The playoffs are this weekend so hopefully the do just as well. She has had a wonderful time playing and it is great to see her come out of her shell a little.

D and I have been busy building the chicken coop outside. The cute, quiet, and non smelly stage of the chicks has passed. I now have a tub full of squawking, stinky, and trying to fly out birds, though I did solve the flying issue by placing a baby gate over the top of the water trough. We have been working outside most of the time the past few days and even if it is cooler than normal....IT IS HOT! We have the kids bringing us cold water every 20 minutes because of the humidity. All we have left is to put the door on and something on the roof to provide more shade. D   was able to get free wood from the sawmill's scrap pile so that really kept costs down, but the only thing that has been inexpensive about the birds are the actual birds. We still have all 10, but feel fairly confident that the number will go down to 7, since we are pretty sure at least 3 are roosters. I really just want them out of my kitchen. They are neat to watch and they all have their own personalities, but they are stinky and loud. We probably went over board on the coop, but at least they will have plenty of room and just maybe we won't have to clean it quite as frequently.

The almost finished coop

Yep...those were our cute fluff balls.

They are getting HUGE.

Trying to save them from death by dog.

I can't believe summer is almost over. We start back to school Aug 7.  Life is busy....may we always remember to savor the days because the go quickly.

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
