The Bunch Get Ready for Birthday Season and Watch the Eclipse

One of the great joys of homeschooling is having the ability to schedule our day however we seem fit. This worked well with the eclipse. The local library had a viewing party, which was fun. We decided to attend and luckily finished school early so we had no worries when we returned. The library had pizza, lemonade cake, mish mash snack, and freeze dried ice cream (it was left over from the summer reading program). All of us enjoyed watching the progress of the moon and while we only witnessed a 75% eclipse here, it was great fun. We witnessed a change in the amount of light and noticeably cooler temps. I love it when the kids can experience things they read about first hand. The kids were really into what was happening and it was SO great to see everyone united doing the same thing, even if it was just for a little while. We are looking forward to being in the path of totality on April 8, 2024.

My mad scientist husband working on A's gift in the super high humidity.
D and I are making A a Harry Potter wand holder for her birthday.  I can't wait to show everyone, but it will have to wait another 2 weeks. She asked for it, but has no idea what we decided to do; so I want it to be a surprise. It has been really time consuming, but has turned out wonderful.

Over the next two weeks we will celebrate 3 birthdays: mine, T, and A. My darling husband  has decided to make my birthday a day of surprises like I did with his and I look forward to seeing what he has planned. I gave him free rein and he felt some what uncomfortable at first and asked me to please plan, but he seems happy now with whatever he decided so I am curious what it is. The kids seem really excited about it so it must be good. We always celebrate A and T's birthdays together so family only has to make one trip, much to A's dismay. They are going to the trampoline park with their cousins and friends. Afterwards, we will head back here for cake and refreshments. They each pick their own cake and they tend to be fairly elaborate. I will let you know what they pick next time. We also take off school for that week and have a relaxing week. We are 4 weeks into school....who doesn't need a week off already?
Our fantastic chicken coop
He can be so creative.....we were watching a western.
Please don't let it be a rooster! This is one of the nice ones!

The homeschool lab at the library made slime this month....pretty neat...and messy!

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
