The Bunch Get Sick AGAIN!!!

Our ginormous 10 month old kitten!

Well, for what feels like the 1000th time this year our family is one by one going down with a cold like virus. I know for a fact it is NOT COVID again. I tested and was negative, which makes sense since we have just very recently recovered from it, though my sense of smell and taste are still only at about 80% of where it was. I am starting to think it might be permanent. Last month D missed out on our 2nd round of illness, but this time around he was the first one to have it. Now T has also contracted it. Basically, the boys are just very snotty and tired. So far the girls and I have avoided round 3, but I did have to reach for a Kleenex a couple times today so I guess we will see what happens.

The weather is finally typical for a Texas summer. Hot and Humid. It is harder to get use to since it has been fairly mild for a Texas summer this year. Fortunately, it will only last about a week and then ANOTHER cold front comes through to knock us back into the low 90's, which don't get me wrong is still hot, but low 90's in August in Texas is a rarity. In fact, this summer is on track to be one of the coolest summers ever!

Our garden has FINALLY been very productive. It only took 4 years of trying to get it fertile!

I have no idea what to do with all our squash. We have it at every meal in various forms!

One day's haul. There is onions in that box.

The next day's haul. I have cucumbers and squash EVERYWHERE!

The two youngest start back to school on August 9. They are NOT excited at all. It seems like summer just flies by and then school drags on and on. I know how they feel. I remember thinking the same things when I was in school. We have passed our time by watching the Olympics. We bought SLING just to be able to watch the Olympics because we are tired of never being able to see some of the other sports that aren't swimming, gymnastics, track and field, and swimming (yes I know I already said it, but it seems like there is 10x more swimming than anything else).  This year we have been able to watch archery, equestrian dressage, and the entire gymnastics rotation not just the highlights. We also plan to watch the rhythmic gymnastics which we NEVER get to see on regular tv.

D and I ate at a new Cajun restaurant I have been dying to try!

He had the butterfly shrimp and loved it!

I don't do seafood so I had the blackened chicken and red beans and rice. I haven't stopped wanting more yet!

This week we drew from the fun jar: Go swimming at the lake and recreate old pics. Apparently, both L and A had put recreate old pics in the jar unbeknownst to each other. I don't let anyone see what goes into the jar so that way it is a surprise as to what we are doing. We have fun trying to recreate old photos so we were fine with doing it again. The lake was not as refreshing as we would have hoped. Even though the overall temps have been historically low, the lake still felt very warm except in a few cold patches (which I really don't want to know why some spots are still so cold). We swam for about an hour and a half and then headed home hot and tired, at which point T told me he thought he might be sick! I really wish he would have mentioned that BEFORE we left to spend time outside in super hot weather being active! He will never admit he doesn't feel well until he feels horrible so for him to admit he is sick all on his own speaks volumes as to how bad he is feeling.

A set up in the shade to read her book since she hates outside and lake water! If she didn't look just like me I would swear we had gotten the wrong baby at the hospital! 😂

L trying to help me recreate A's pic since A refused to get in the lake.

T totally nailed his picture!

L did a good job of recreating A's pic.

A did do a good job of recreating her first day of 1st grade though.

L really got the facial expression she had for her graham cracker. I have no idea what was going on in the original picture, but there were several of her making faces at her cracker. 😂

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
