*** OOPS I FORGOT TO CONFIRM THE POST FOR LAST WEEK. SORRY! NEW POST IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. This was last weeks****
You can't really complain about rain in August in Texas. It usually doesn't happen and August is usually very hot and dry. However, we had an unusual event last week. There was rain for over half of the week! The first day it just kind of dribbled all day. We had about half an inch of a nice slow rain. Unfortunately, the next two days the bottom dropped out and we had about 5 more inches total! It is also in the forecast to rain again this afternoon. Everything is a muddy mess. We have standing water in the yard and I won't even mention what the horses look like! I'll just say I have quite a project with them once things dry out a little. The humidity from all this rain is almost unbearable. It really slaps you in the face when you go outside. However, it should only last about a week and then another cold front comes through; this time with no rain. It will still be 90, but 90 for a high in August in Texas, we'll enjoy it!
Birthday week planning has begun. Once again thanks to Covid, we are not doing any big parties. We are just going to celebrate at home and the kids will have a friend come over and spend the night. For once the kids might not get donuts for their birthday! A wants to have a blueberry oatmeal dish I make and T wants biscuits and gravy with eggs. Now, they may change their minds, but I can't believe they FINALLY aren't asking to get their birthday donuts! I, of course, NEVER want donuts. I am leaning towards breakfast tacos from Rudy's.
We have tickets to see Wicked on the 29th and have been hoping that it doesn't get canceled because of the rising Covid cases. It is in Dallas at Fair Park so who knows. We only have a week to go and I haven't had any notifications yet. We REALLY want to go. However, looks like our Branson trip might once again get canceled. We are all getting tired of not being able to go anywhere. We absolutely love Christmas in Branson and really would like to go this year, but we will wait and see how things play out before we make any definite plans. We just hope that Branson made it through the pandemic relatively unscathed since the population they cater towards is the most vulnerable.
We had a hot air balloon fly over house early one morning. Literally, was flying over our backyard about 30 ft up and over the horses pen before landing in the hay field behind us. The horses, I am fairly certain, thought a loud fire breathing dragon was coming for them. They completely flipped out and even after it landed for the next two days they were looking at where it was constantly like it might resurrect and come after them.
The horses did NOT like the scary balloon. |
