The Bunch Integrate a Chicken, Vote, and Get Ready For Christmas

First off, I can't believe how quickly October is going by. The weather has been so warm it's no wonder why I can't believe it is October! It feels more like mid September. This week we kept our newest chicken in a crate on the deck just in case she was ill. That way she wouldn't infect the rest of the flock. However, she is not only looking extremely healthy, but also laying eggs-which means she is healthy or she wouldn't be laying. This week she gets to move into the coop with the other chickens, but in her crate. This way the chickens will get use to her being there, but won't be able to gang up on her and peck the intruder to death. And yes, chickens can do that. They don't like members that aren't in their flock.  Don't get me wrong she'll still get pecked a lot even after the slow introduction, but they most likely will just give her a couple of pecks so she knows her rank and then leave her alone.

Fang is doing well!

Fang's coop inside the coop. The sheet is blocking the direct sunlight on the cage.

Since A is now 18, she was able to vote in her very first election. It was very exciting to see my second oldest child go vote for the first time! We try to instill in the kids the importance of voting. You can't complain about what happens if you don't go and vote for changes. There was only 8 Texas constitutional amendments on the ballot. I showed her a website that explained what each one was and let her make her own choices. I didn't ask or even care how she voted. It is her choice on how she feels about issues and I am just happy to see her making her voice heard. I did tell her how and why I planned on voting, but also gave her points of why someone else might vote for it. Basically, I almost never vote for a bond package because it just means higher property taxes and if I have to live within my budget then they can figure out how to live within their budget. There are a few exceptions to that, but basically a bond package is a big no from me.

T is gearing up for his first four games. They are part of a tournament and will play 2 games each day. Unfortunately, it is in Duncanville, which is really far from here, but hopefully they will be close together so we won't have to wait around all day. L designed shirts for us to wear to support T. We got our shirts today. He still hasn't received his jersey yet!

We are ready!

L tries out for her solo on Sunday and I will let you know next week if she got it. She also painted her pumpkin with A. I asked if they didn't want to paint their pumpkins anymore because this year's pumpkins were a lot less intricate than the past 2 years. However, apparently they are very big on traditions and have no plans to stop anytime soon. It works for me since I use the fresh pumpkin to bake with once we are done with Halloween.

I think A just wanted to paint with her hands, but it looks festive.

L, being L, was, of course, more meticulous with her pumpkin. It didn't take 5 hours like last year's Hamilton pumpkin, but she did spend a couple of hours on it.

We also started Christmas shopping. I always start early, but this year is super early! With all the supply and shipping issues, I decided to just start early and hopefully avoid some stress later. We are even shopping old school, you know actually going out to the store. My goal is to be done by Thanksgiving. Ironically, I haven't noticed any issues with finding what I am looking for or any issues from shipping. Either way, I will still feel better being finished early. There are some pretty good deals already.

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
