The Bunch Finish School and Get Ready For Galveston!

A is enjoying only taking one class at a time. It only takes a couple of hours out of her day. She needs to enjoy it because once she starts working in the spring she will be busy.

It has been a long year and we are excited to get to go on a much deserved vacation. Unfortunately, gas to get back and forth to Galveston is costing us more than our entire gas budget for a 19 day trip to Chicago and back two years ago, when I thought $1.86 a gallon in Missouri was overpriced! I had told L if prices were above $5 a gallon that we would have to postpone our trip until prices dropped or go somewhere closer, even though Galveston is only 365 miles away. It looks like prices will be just under that mark so we are still planning on going, unless something crazy happens and they rise quickly.

Analyst are predicting $6 a gallon gas prices in Texas by mid summer which might play into T playing basketball next year. His team requires too much driving for me to pay $6 a gallon for gas. The price of groceries has also risen a lot. We don't usually get bacon, but I had a recipe with it in there and went to get the bacon we like, which is a more expensive type anyway. It normally was around $12, but is now $21.98! I just made it without the bacon and it still tasted great. If only someone had mentioned that handing out free money to everyone would cause inflation then we could have stopped it. Oh, wait. There was a whole group of people who warned about that, called Republicans. Maybe we should have listened. My other pet peeve is everyone talking about switching to electric cars. Well, yes that solves the high gas price problem, but how are you going to charge it? Our power grid can't handle everyone's air conditioning and large appliances running in the summer ( or winter too apparently). Imagine if everyone's car was being charged also. Do you just not get to go to work if your house had a rolling blackout and the car didn't get enough of a charge?

At least when we go to Galveston, we are staying at a resort. There will be lots of things to do included in our stay. The resort has a basketball court, mini golf, corn hole, beach access, a lazy river, swimming pools, and a hot tub.  Plus we will be close to the historic downtown area and can look at all the cute boutiques. We also plan to go to the state park to hike and swim and go to the aquarium at Moody Gardens. It should be fun and we are really looking forward to it. Hopefully, the weather cools back down to normal before we go. The highs should be in the upper 80's and low 90's, NOT over 100 already!

T is happy to be done with school. Next year he is a freshman!

L worked on a puzzle she got for her birthday.

It took her a couple of hours.

We went to visit C and H last weekend to celebrate H's birthday. The house they rented for the past 8 years is being sold and they have to move by the end of June. I feel for them. It is really hard to find affordable housing now and rents have just sky rocketed. Several places charge more for rent for a one bedroom apartment than my mortgage is for a 4 bedroom house on 2 acres. It's crazy! Thank goodness they don't have a baby yet or they would also be stressing over not being able to find formula right now. They are looking at trying to buy a fixer upper house in Bonham. They both work from home and can move pretty much anywhere.

We celebrated H's birthday.

And H gave L a couple of shirts she made for L's birthday (we hadn't seen them in awhile).

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
