This was our last week before school starts and we used it to finish up doing things from the fun jar. We only have two things we didn't get to that we'll finish over the next couple of weeks. One was to race our chickens, which L put in the jar and sounds hilarious, but it has to be cooler before we do that and the other one is to remake the Buy a Shot Gun video with Joe Biden, which should be fun too. A is finishing all her classes for the summer and gets a week off before fall semester starts. She is about ready to be done with school!
L has registered for her 3 fall classes and has ordered her books. Her classes start on August 23 so while she waits she is earning extra money by helping paint our house. I have wanted to get rid of the white paint and carpet since we moved in! The new flooring is rather expensive so we'll start with paint. We're repainting it a grey color we used at our old house and really liked. I already had the workers who redid our chimney paint it in the grey so no one will have to get on the roof now. Basically, we just have to paint the front and back porch, the garage, and the trim around the house. Most of the house is brick so it shouldn't be too bad. L already has done the front porch and door so this week she is working on the garage door.
T has still been picking up jobs from the neighbors. He has done another lawn mowing job and is currently chicken sitting for the week for a different neighbor. I am surprised at how excited all my neighbors are to have a kid to hire! Also, his coach from this year BEGGED T to come play in their summer league tournament last weekend. They only had 3 players and needed at least 2 to be able to play. It was really weird going to a tournament to play on a team we have never met. I told T to think of it as an expensive practice at game speed. There did end up only being 5 players so there wasn't any subs, but T played great! They didn't win, but considering no one really has played together it was to be expected, but it was a great game and good practice, especially knowing it didn't count for his stats or team ranking. It was literally just for fun. The hour and a half commute each way, the tournament fee, and spectator fees made it a super expensive practice, but it was great for him to be in a game setting to practice the skills he had been learning from his summer basketball clinic. I was worried about his Pectus, but he said he only started feeling the symptoms once and the other team called a time out so he had time to recover and was fine. I will say his age group plays HARD and full contact. Basketball is rough!! This was the most quiet I have ever been at a tournament. 😂
