The Bunch Get T Ready For Camp And T Gets His License!!

Not as cute as the photo op in Flower Mound, but it will do. He was still just as excited!

It's summer. It's Texas. It's hot. No surprise there. We expect it. While summer did just abruptly begin, it still isn't anywhere near as bad as last year. This year temps have barely hit 100 and the heat index is way less. Last year while T was at camp the heat index was 125 in Oklahoma, hitting a record. I was so worried about the kids getting heat exhaustion and it wasn't much better here, though D and I did go camp for a couple of days, but mostly just watched movies in the trailer and had dinner with C and H. Unfortunately, D has to work this time and so does A so I have a ton of time at home by myself. I am a little lost on what to do. I have a couple of projects I want to start, but I also am going to do something fun. A graduates this summer from college and ever since the kids were little I have saved special shirts and other cloth mementos to make them a personalized quilt for when they graduate college. I think I am going to get started on that while T is gone. It will probably take a few months for me to finish, but I am excited to get to reminisce about our fun memories while I go through her box.

T continues growing up! This week he got his driver's license. It is insane how long the wait is to get into see anyone at the DMV.  It took us 3 months and we only got in that quickly because we went to Gainesville, otherwise it would have been 5 months. The Gainesville office hasn't changed since the 1970's. In fact the vision test was literally them holding a piece of paper up at the "correct" distance.😂 It was an interesting trip, but we got in only 20 minutes behind our scheduled appointment AND, more importantly, he got his license. Now, I just have to teach him how to drive. I am so happy this is my last kid to teach to drive. I have lost years of my life teaching the kids how to get on a busy freeway going 75 mph. They all end up doing fine, but you know how horrible other people drive and it's pretty nerve wracking. I basically teach them how to go around the worst parts of traffic to get to where they want to go. 🤷 However, my back ways are getting super busy now too compared to when A started driving so I am not sure how much safer the back way is anymore.

Today is July 4th and right now the kids are playing a game they bought together and we plan to play monopoly later. Ironically, I bought fireworks, but have no idea when we will set them off. We might throw a party later this fall and set them off then. I am not even cooking out today. I just wasn't feeling my normal 4th activities this year. I am not sick or anything I just don't have the desire to plan all the logistics out for a party, probably because we're planning some celebration for A's graduation, planning T's 16th birthday party, and planning our girls trip. I think I am just all planned out right now.

Happy Fourth Everyone!!!

MiMi sulking because she got a time out for knocking the dog's water over. Poor Maisy! We had been blaming her.

The kids have fun playing their game together. In fact, A was upset that T played it by himself while she was at work since it's their game.

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
