Game Day was quite cold this week. T's team is in 2nd place so far. |
Our lives, like virtually everyone else's, came to a screeching halt last year (Thanks Again Covid), but lately our life is slowly becoming what it was. D normally has several days in both the spring and summer that he has to go in for training. For those people who are saying "Police need more training", they obviously have no idea how many REQUIRED hours EVERY year that police officers attend training. While last year provided a nice escape from training season (Thanks Again Covid), this year's training season is back with a vengeance. Probably to make up for last year, which basically means my husband has to work on one of his days off for the foreseeable future.
The youngest two kids are both participating in sports again and our calendar is once again looking very colorful. T's garden is starting to sprout. He planted only okra and corn this year and plans to sell his excess at the Farmer's market. The girls are volunteering again to be camp counselors at church this summer. We only have six weeks left of school and then summer break. Yay! A was accepted into her Vet Tech program in the fall and has been busy doing things she needs to get done before her semester starts. The girls are also very excited that prom is in 2 weeks! I told them to take a lot of pictures since I am not allowed passed the entrance ( only ticket holders and staff are allowed in the convention center for security reasons). We will see if they remember or if they have too much fun and forget. I really hope one of their friends gets their dance routine they have been working on recorded. They have spent hours practicing the routine to the Schuyler Sisters song from the Hamilton movie. They not only have learned the movements, but also the facial expressions of the dancers. It is really good. I would love to see what it looks like when they perform it at prom.
Our cute baby kitty is now officially over her ringworm, which means our 3x a week shower together can be over; however, she injured her paw and it has swollen to 3x it's normal size and as it turns out the solution to heal it is, of course, holding her foot in an epsom salt bath.....in the shower. I will say just having to get her foot wet for a few minutes is WAY easier than having to get her completely wet, shampoo her with special shampoo, wait for 10 minutes, and then rinse her off. She also apparently ate something she shouldn't have because she has been throwing up the past two nights. She really is like a baby. Basically, she has not been well one single day since we have had her. She is just the sweetest cat though so hopefully she outgrows her issues. The vet seems to think it is a distinct possibility.
Also on a sad note our beautiful view of the hay field behind our property is leaving. The land has been sold to a real estate development company. They will build houses on 2 acres lots. I guess it could be worse, but I really loved looking out over my deck and seeing only land for as far as the eye could see.
Mama and Daddy bird literally dragged baby bird out of the nest. It was pretty vicious. I had never seen birds do that before. |
