L is being silly! |
Tomorrow is finally prom! The girls are so excited! It should be so much fun for them. There is going to be about 836 students attend on Saturday with them and about the same number going on Friday night. It is a VERY popular event in the homeschooling world because it is known for being over the top and phenomenal. The decorations will include the White Witches eternal winter, Aslan's Golden Age, and actors who look like Lucy, Edmond, Peter, and Susan. A string quartet will play the Narnia score during dinner and there is a super fun game planned to try and find the missing something or other. I forgot what it was, but they have to be brushed up on their Narnia info in order to be able to find it. Since our oldest child lives near by D and I are going to go visit him while they are attending prom. I can't remember the last time I was out until 2 am, but it has been quite awhile. As D always tells his fellow police officers when they want him to work overnight, "Night time is for sleeping". We have watched all 3 Narnia movies this week in preparation for the scavenger hunt and had a dress rehearsal for their Schuyler Sisters number. We are ready. Hopefully. they remember to take a lot of pictures so I can share the experience with you guys on next weeks blog.
T did very well in football this season. His team ranked 3rd overall so far and has a playoff game to play tomorrow. We start back to basketball this summer and he is so excited. His best friend will be playing with him and together they make a pretty formidable team. Sadly, the record breaking freeze that occured unexpectedly a few days ago killed off 2/3 of our garden. On a happier note, it also killed off all the weeds that were starting to come up in said garden. This weekend we will replant. We did not cover them up because we were afraid the weight of the cover would crush the newly emerging plants.
D won another award at work. This time instead of a Life Saving Award, which he won the past two years, he earned a Community Service Award for starting a fundraising drive to help a resident in Flower Mound. I think he ended up raising more than $1000 for her.
We went last weekend to Mineral Wells State Park for a couple of days. It was one of our best trips. We hiked, watched tv outside next to the fire, and played an assortment of fun games (thanks Aunt S). The cat, once again, behaved wonderfully. I think she likes camping because she gets to look out the window. This time we had the world's largest and apparently friendliest road runner that would not leave us alone and continued to tease the cat with its presence. The campgrounds were VERY busy, as usual, but the sites were quite large and we had plenty of space. In fact, we didn't even pass anyone on our hike.

We enjoyed watching Shrek outside. |

We LOVE the Solo Stove my in laws got us for Christmas. We can have a fire anywhere and there is very little stinky smoke. |
T was really into the movie and being comfortable. |
The hike was beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️ |
The kids usually leave me behind because I go slower and am always stopping to take pictures. |
It was a really good hike. |
We were all smiles at the beginning, but with all the grade changes and a couple of hours on the trail, we were a sweaty mess when we made it back! |
It had some pretty overlooks. |
The little angel loved sleeping in her hammock and watching the birds. |
The gigantic road runner that wouldn't leave us alone. |
She tried to figure out what we were doing on the patio. |
Our site was so big that T had a nice secluded spot for his tent. |
We had a great spot, but we do need a much bigger outdoor rug.
