We finally made it to prom day. It was a long time coming. Every ticket bought requires 4 hours of volunteer time. I had 8 hours of volunteer time required since we bought tickets for both girls. Basically, I spent my time making cocoa and hot tea in 4 oz bottles and decorating the table numbers. We found dresses, shoes, jewelry, and hairstyles and finally the real day was here. The girls , D, and I left our house around 3pm to head off towards the Frisco Convention Center. Luckily, we were able to get right in to drop them off and, as dumb beginners luck would have it, we unknowingly parked right outside a side door that they were able to come out of and it allowed us to miss the horrible congestion in the front of the hotel. I will say waiting the last 40 minutes of prom in that spot was REALLY hard. We were so tired and time seemed to be moving extremely slow, but we were grateful that once it ended and they came out we were able to skip the congestion out front.
The prom itself was super cool. They walked through a wardrobe into the forest with trees and actual snow coming down (they had a snow machine). They had Tumnus, a centaur, the white queen, Aslan, the beavers, a market place to buy things, and more extras than I can even mention. The white queen would even walk around and scare everyone. Yes, the centaur could walk around too! They had so much fun. It made D and I wish that our proms would have been as fun as theirs. They will have wonderful memories of their prom. Dinner was grilled chicken with a cream sauce, green beans, risotto, and a fruit skewer for dessert. They were disappointed in dessert. They had been really hoping for cheesecake!
D and I had a nice night out. We took C out to dinner at the Olive Garden and then played games for a couple of hours. It was a nice way to spend time while we waited for the girls.

Dinner. The girls said the food was very ok. They "would not go back for the food, but for the fun" was their exact words. |
