The Bunch Head To Eisenhower State Park

Our site was really big. It was nice since Maisy had plenty of room AWAY from people.

One of our most favorite spots to camp is at Eisenhower State Park. The park is not only huge, but has beautiful views. There is many different trails that take you to rocky cliffs that overlook Lake Texoma. It always reminds me of the Ozarks, albeit a smaller version and we all know how much I love the Ozarks. We stayed in a great site and while the weather was a little hot during the late afternoon and early evenings, the mornings were great! The rving craze has finally slowed down and the park was mostly empty. I did still make reservations, but I only did it 2 days ahead of time and there was plenty of sites to pick from. The goal this time was to finally finish a really long trail we have been hiking for about our past 3 trips to this park. The trail is only 3.2 miles long, but it is NOT a loop, which means if you want to get back to where you started it is about 6.4 miles. However, that is still not the whole story. You have to hike 3 miles in just to get to the trail head. You are looking at almost 13 miles of trails if you do it all at once. Remember how I mentioned the beautiful rocky cliff views. These trails are very rocky and steep in several places which makes for slow going. Luckily, here there are several spots along this route where you can pick the trail up. We have been hiking about 3-4 miles on each trip and just picking up where we left off on our next visit. Finally, on this trip we finished! We made it all the way to the scenic outlook and sadly it wasn't as spectacular as I hoped. To be honest, we found better views at several stops on our way up, but it was really exciting to finally finish!

We had fun playing games.

L accidentally put her hand in the litterbox!

It was warm, but D was a champ and still left the a/c, which he hates doing. We relaxed in our zero gravity chairs.

The beginning of the end.

T was the official spider web remover on our hike. That's what the stick is for.

It was way steeper and rockier than the pic shows!

Almost at the end!

We were resting for a bit before going the last mile to the car.

D and I once walked over 26 miles in one day when we were in Grand Cayman. I was for real 24 then and D and I were very athletic. The last 2 miles back to the hotel was a testament to our stubbornness to say we finished. We spent all day in the searing heat following a rudimentary map of the island and somehow did not get completely lost. We did wander into a restaurant near the end to get more water and I can only imagine how bad we smelled! When we got back to the hotel, we showered and only made it as far as the hotel restaurant before crawling into bed to go to sleep. We would have attempted the Eisenhower trail in one day back then I am sure. However, 24 isn't what it use to be and while D could probably be talked into trying to do it, the kids would not stand for a longer hike than about 4 miles. T wanted to go swimming after we finished, but L didn't want to so after a lot of complaining, they decided to play uno and watch a movie.

A did not come with us and this time coming back to get her wasn't an option. Noelle stayed with her and apparently did a lot better than Maisy did, or at least she didn't spend the entire time staring forlornly at the door. A also got extra school done so on the day we came home she had the day free to watch movies with us and play some card games. The kids also called her during Wheel of Fortune while we were camping since we all like to watch it together and guess the puzzles. It felt like she still was a part of the trip even if she wasn't there.

She totally fits.

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
