The Bunch Have An RV Surprise!

Thanks Biden....just FYI I wasn't the one who put the sticker there, but I did find it hilarious! 😂😂

We have been in desperate need of rain this year. It has been very dry and crunchy. However, while I appreciate the much needed rain, I really wish that we didn't get an entire month's worth of rain in one day! Everything in our yard ends up under water for a couple of days and taking care of animals becomes very difficult. We ended up getting over 3 inches in one night, which unfortunately led to the discovery that our rv has a leak! We were intending to go camping this weekend, but instead spent the weekend fixing the rv.  We were cleaning out the rv to shed weight before our long trip to Galveston when we noticed the extra blankets we store under the couch were wet. We still aren't exactly sure where the leak is, but we think that water came in from some trim that was pulling away over the wheel well.  An rv is a lot like the children's book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie . Basically, first you find one thing wrong with your RV then that leads you to find something else wrong and so on and so forth. We now have several things we need to get done before our first real trip after two years of not taking big trips thanks to Covid.  We now have to reseal all the trim, replace the trim cover, reseal parts of the roof, and generally just do a lot of maintenance work. None of it is particularly hard or expensive, just time consuming.  Since we bought the RV new we haven't had to do a lot of maintenance on it so now that it is three years old it is just time to give it some love to keep it good condition.

This was taken after only an inch and a half fell. After over three inches of rain, the chicken coop was an island.

D worked on cleaning the RV roof so he can reseal some parts of it. It was dirty!

I washed the Velour blanket that got wet in the RV. It completely fell apart.....but it did smell good and was soft.

We had to scoop it out and throw it away. Luckily, the washer seems ok. I have washed velour blankets many times and this has never happened!

L is almost finished with all her night time driving hours. We have discovered that a coyote roams around our area, which isn't particularly surprising, but this one seems to stay in the same area and not really roam very far.  We know because it darts in front of the car virtually every night we drive in the same spot.  It stays within one square mile. Last night we also had to deal with a cow and her calf that were out in the road. It's country so coyotes and cows out are fairly common, but it makes L realize how careful she has to be when she drives out here at night.  I am always shocked when I start driving with the kids at how little they have paid attention to everywhere we have gone. I have literally driven them to the high school and past it multiple times over the past 6 years. It only takes 3 streets to get there and yet they never know where it is.  It baffles me how little they have paid attention to where they are when I drive around.

We don't have the channel to watch the Maverick's playoff games so T went to spend the night at my parents house. He really enjoys spending time with my dad. I think it is because my dad is basically a big kid. He loves to play video games, watch sports and westerns, play ping pong (he has a table) and go drive golf balls. Basically, T thinks of him as a playmate. T really enjoys his time over there and I am glad he is able to have these memories of his Grandpa.

When T can't go to Grandpa's to watch the game we just constantly refresh the score on my tablet for about 3 hours and try to guess what's happening!😂

A is almost done with her spring classes. She only has one more final to take. She did decide to take a class over the summer so we will see how that goes. I was surprised that she decided to do that since she really treasures her down time in the summer, but I am happy she is working so hard to graduate. She has all A's and B's again this semester. She should have her degree in about 2 more years. She has to find a paid position by next summer so that will be an adjustment for all of us when she starts working.

Unfortunately, thanks to inflation, all my kids will have to stay at home for quite awhile after college.  Rent for a one bedroom apartment is now more (way more!) than the mortgage on our four bedroom house on 2 acres! Basically, the next generation will have to inherit housing or never own a home. Our neighbor's house just sold for almost $550,000 so I am really scared to get our tax bill for next year. Our tax payment each month will be about equal to our mortgage payment, which is crazy! D and I had planned to sell our house when we start rving full time, but now we will probably keep it so the kids have some where to live!

It is training season for D so several of his normal days off will be filled with training, so he will be really busy with that and working on the rv. Our vacation will be much needed!

D surprised me with some beautiful flowers! He is so sweet (most of the time)💗

I have been feeling way better lately. In fact , I haven't used my heating pad in over two weeks! That is a record for me since I was using it every time I sat down. I finally admitted I can't use weights every time I workout so I do mostly cardio now and weights once a week (and dropped how much weight I use) and it made a HUGE difference in how much I hurt. Don't get me wrong osteoarthritis is still painful, but I can manage it better (most of the time). I have also been trying some tips I have been given and I feel I am at a livable level so hopefully I can keep it here.

Have a fantastic week everyone!

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
