The Bunch Go To Galveston: Day 4-6

D and I were surprised at how much we enjoyed our time at the beach.

After such a busy Day 3, we decided to take it easy on Day 4. This is turned out to be a good idea since the site next to us was under construction and having a fire pit added. The workers basically just blew sand ALL over our stuff, including the towels and swimsuits we had drying outside. Our trip was fantastic except for this. We did complain to management about this, but just got an I am sorry response. Since everything was covered in sand D and I decided to go ahead and do some laundry. This was the best laundry experience I have ever had! The kids stayed in the camper to play games so D and I headed up to the main area by ourselves. We got our laundry started and decided to give the resort's frozen margaritas a whirl. It was so nice to sit on the deck in the shade with fantastic views, enjoying the breeze and listening to the music from the pool below. The hour and a half we were waiting on the laundry just flew by! Of course, once we arrived back to the camper the kids were ready to head to the ocean to play. We also played Cornhole at the resort. Apparently Cornhole is similar to basketball because T was the dominating player, but I held my own with the others. It was so much fun NOT having a schedule and to just do things that we want to for as long as we want to....I am ready for retirement!

This was our view from the camper. You can see the waves between the houses.

T was the Cornhole champion.

We played for over an hour and a half. It was hot, but fun!

We went exploring some of the other public access beach piers.

Seeing the water everywhere was wonderful. The kids LOVE beaches.

T played basketball everyday we were there. Any other boy who saw him would come play with him. I was surprised at how many baskets he made. The wind was over 30mph!

D and I got another frozen margarita and watched him play from the shade of the deck.

Day 5: The first thing we had to do was get a car wash. Between all the sand and salt, we could hardly see through the windows. Once we found a car wash, we were on our way to check out Moody Mansion. The Moody's were a prominent family in the early 1900's, which is why everything is Moody named. The house stayed in the family and in the 1980's Mary Moody opened her grandparents house as a museum. This house was huge! They worked hard at keeping all the original furnishings. I would have been lost trying to find my way around this house. The tour was self guided and really interesting. The stained glass on the stairs was breathtaking. It took almost two hours to complete our tour and then we went to try the Sunflower Cafe. The cafe was way bigger than I thought it would be, but it was really good and I was glad we went through the headache of down town parking to eat there. This was the kids last day to play at the ocean, but A decided she was tired and wanted to nap so the rest of us went to play in the ocean one last time before we left. It is so relaxing listening to the waves and watching the kids play. I really enjoyed my island time, though I did manage to stumble across some sand fleas and the rash that resulted made this day a little lower on my list than the others.

The Moody's had quite the extensive car collection.

And even more amazing was they never sold the old cars.

The breeze way outside the mansion felt great. I was surprised at how much it cooled you off.

They gave us radios to hear about each room as we did the tour.

The wall paper is fabric and there is a swatch you can touch.

So many rooms.

This was just beautiful. It seemed a shame it wasn't more prominently displayed on the main floor.

This a "toy" oven. Basically, exactly like a cast iron oven just smaller. It still worked the same way. Kids must have been smarter back then to not burn themselves.

Waiting on our lunch.

They could have used some games like Cracker Barrel has while you wait.

It is a running joke. L never gets the French toast she is always craving and her food always comes 5 minutes after everyone else's.

Day 6: Our time on the island is over. We decided to drive down Sea Wall Avenue for most of our way out so we could see the ocean for as long as possible. We were a lot less stressed on this trip since we had trailer brakes. I am glad we did because as soon as we got on the highway heading back to Houston a pick up two cars in front of us had a weedeater fly out. The car in front of us stopped short and we had to slam on both the car and trailer brakes. Thanks to God, no one rear ended us ( which I definitely thought would happen) and we stopped with in inches of the car in front of us. However, apparently the weedeater became lodged  somewhere under our trailer because people were honking like crazy at us. I can only assume that sparks were flying. We pulled over immediately onto the shoulder and the weedeater came loose. We checked for any damage, but everything seemed ok so we continued on our way home, okay physically but a little shook up. We still have to get under the trailer and see if any of our holding tanks were punctured. I hope they are ok. That will be a beast of a project if we have to replace those. We were glad to get home, but already have a list ready for things we want to do next time!

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June ...

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though...

The Bunch Celebrate T's 16th Birthday

Three Birthdays in 10 days I cannot believe the baby of the family is 16! Actually, I can't believe they are all as old as they are. C will be 31 this year, A turns 21 tomorrow, L is 18, and little baby T is 16! It has been a wonderful ride and I was very blessed to be able to spend 24/7 with my kids while they were little. I have wonderful memories of all the times we shared. While the last year has been the hardest of our lives, it's been nice to see us all rally together and we have become even more appreciative of each other. T will just randomly stop to hug us and tell us he loves us.🥰 A is so very helpful and thoughtful and C is great about calling and keeping us updated on how they're doing way out in Bonham. I love my kids! We have decided to give pickleball a try as a family. Considering we've never even watched a game, our first lesson should be interesting!  He has gotten so good at guitar! My parents celebrate our birthdays every year by treating us to di...
