The Bunch Celebrate Mother's Day

My kids do a lot of wonderful, helpful things throughout the year so on Mother's Day I like to keep it pretty low key. The kids usually make me a card and some sort of dessert. They'll do any chores that I needed to do that day, mostly animal chores that pop up, like cleaning a trough out or moving hay. The rest of the time we just play games and watch TV. I don't give myself a whole lot of down time so sometimes it's hard to just relax all day! I have to say that just sitting around all day makes me feel more tired than doing stuff all day. I have no idea why it is like that, but inevitably it is. Whenever I get sick as soon as I feel able enough, I start moving around. Now, I'll start moving around at less than half of my normal rate, but within a few days I am usually back to feeling pretty normal. We had been so busy lately that it was really nice to have a day where everyone was home; we had nothing we had to do; and everyone was able to relax. I did prep some cinnamon rolls from my Brenda Gantt cookbook the night before and they turned out good, but I think next time I will double the amount of cinnamon filling and make them gluten free -I was so sick, as I get older the gluten tolerance keeps going down. L has to eat gluten free too. She is way more strict with her diet than I am. She hardly ever cheats even we are staying home. The cream cheese icing recipe Brenda uses is probably the best I have ever had.

A made a sweet card🥰

L, my little baker, made some wonderful zucchini chocolate cupcakes. They were delicious!💗

She included a sweet message.☺️

T apparently was unaware it was Mother's Day so not to feel out done he made a card too.😂

These were so good!

Allstate has FINALLY quite being stupid. It took over 2 months and 3 inspections before we finally broke them and they approved my entire roof, instead of the 82% they originally wanted. I still won't renew with them. I strongly urge everyone to avoid Allstate altogether. The hassle and run around is NOT worth any savings you might get. I promise. Now, we get to pick our roof color and schedule the install, which is not fun, but it should only take a few days.

We are down to our very last week of school and then L is officially done with highschool. She is already accepted to Blinn College, got a couple thousand dollar grant to get started, and is ready to enroll in her fall classes. I am very proud of her. She seems a little more lost than A was going into college, but she is getting really excited now about going. She even has found a camera she wants to get from Walmart for about $500. It has several things she needs and she did a lot of research on a good student camera and this one was highly recommended. She is also going to need a laptop that is not a Chromebook. For some reason, the Chromebooks won't work with the Photography software.

While I have been loving my time away from basketball, T has missed it. Open gym starts in June on Tuesdays and he can't wait! This is where his team and future teammates go to keep their skills up during the break, even though half of them play a summer league anyway. I could not imagine keeping a basketball schedule year round! Nope, no thank you! That's not for me! I need some downtime to prepare for the craziness of basketball season. It's intense!

A is loving her work. It's nice she waited to start working until she was an already licensed veterinarian assistant. She got to skip the first couple of levels of grunt work! She has already had three raises since she started. She is the only person I know that has no idea how much they make and really doesn't care since she has to have the job to fulfill the work requirements for her Vet Tech license. I think she graduates next spring. She just found out yesterday that her summer vacation was cut short. She thought she had until June 5 when summer school starts, but it turns out her program started on this past Monday.😂 Needless to say, she was very disappointed!

D is doing well. He has been working like crazy to catch up on all his training and taking some overtime gigs to pay for L's hospital bill. I don't know if I mentioned it, but L hit her head really hard on a pole at the park and we went to the urgent care to see if she had a concussion, but they didn't have the equipment there for a CT scan so they sent use to the emergency room. 5 hours in the waiting room, some Benadryl and ibuprofen, and CT scan ( by far the cheapest thing, go figure) was about $9000. What is wrong with our healthcare system? Why should people have decide whether or not they can afford emergency care? The system is VERY broken. We have really good insurance so our portion is about $2200, but that is still super expensive. The quality of her care was NOT worth $9000.

Have a wonderful week 🤗

You just can't beat Mom at checkers! None of my family has yet.

The Bunch Are Off To A Wonderful 2025 And Are Considering A Change 🤔

It's official, she has a college diploma!! Besides totally enjoying a drama free year, we have been consciously spending time doing things as a family and spending time with each child doing things they enjoy. D has been playing ball and watching movies with his larger "mini me" while A and I have been spending a lot of time in Dallas going to the theatre. A absolutely loves going to see off Broadway productions! I won't be surprised in the slightest if she ends up getting season tickets. Dallas Broadway does a lottery to each show where if they draw your name you have 3 hours to buy tickets for $39 each including all fees! That is an absolute steal! She actually won the lottery on Tuesday so we went that night to see the production of "& Juliet". The seats she won were FANTASTIC! They don't give you cheap seats in the back for the lottery. You win good seats. The seats we ended up with worked out to be only about a quarter of the regular price! We h...

The Bunch Celebrate Christmas

It's become tradition for T to wear a Santa hat on Christmas. Our Christmas was pretty low key. D was able to go in late so he was able to have Christmas with us before he went to work which was really nice. The kids and I packed up and moved Christmas brunch to C&H's house since he needs to stay close to home and we worried about the lack of emergency care both on the way to our house and while here. I made up a potato casserole ahead of time, brought stuff for garden scrambled eggs, and banana bread while H made a really good cranberry punch and some pigs in a blanket. I have to say for only 5 people we had a ton of food! In fact, T ate so much for brunch I don't think he really ate anything for the rest of the day. He also finished his very last hour of driving on his way back home! Driver's license here we come....next week! After the mess Axl made last time we left him in his crate, we reenforced the doors with zip ties. We also made sure to take him on a wal...

The Bunch Visit Family

We had fun playing some board games...and it wasn't even a fun jar idea! We just did it because it sounded like fun! The fun jar has been a little slow being implemented this year. T made sure to let me know! We're making up for it next week by drawing several things.  We have had a wonderfully busy week visiting family and getting things done around the house. We went over to my parents house to celebrate Father's Day and while the boys played games with Grandpa, the girls went with Grandma to show her what all the fuss about Trader Joe's is about. She enjoyed looking at all the different things and even found a few gems of her own. It was a nice day and fun to get out together for a little bit. We had a great day!🥰 We picked up Whataburger for my Dad as a treat and my mom made some tots and a side salad up to go with it.💗 We also had a nice long visit with our Aunt P. She's been under the weather and we hadn't had a visit in a couple weeks so it was nice t...
