We met some friends at the park. I am really tired of the Galveston humidity. It was miserable at our park day! |
We have been quite busy finishing up our school year and getting L ready for college. We decided on Blinn College. She is going to get her degree in Graphic Design and Photography. She will do an online program similar to A's, but with less animals and blood (hopefully!!!). She's excited and a little nervous. Change is hard. She has a few more things she has to do before she can register for classes, but she should be ready to go by the time summer gets here.
We have been dealing with insurance claims still from the hail damage on March 2. Everything is closed now except the one we started first! I knew I hated Allstate, but they were the least expensive at our last renewal and what was the chance this would be the ONE year we would make a claim. God loves to be funny! Fast forward 6 months and here we are. Right now they are trying to replace 82% of my roof, which I mean really?!?! How is my roofer suppose to know which ones aren't approved? Also, I don't get the manufacturer warranty on an incomplete roof. Allstate has apparently fired all their own adjusters and instead exclusively uses contractors and other roofing companies in their place, which works about as well as it sounds. Not at All! There is so much miscommunication between their own people that it is frustrating for us. Hopefully, the latest inspector they sent actually took the correct pictures in the format that they want so they can move forward with our claim. It's been two months! Most of my neighbors have long since had their repairs done. Moral of the story.... NEVER use Allstate for your insurance needs. Any savings you might get is just not worth the headache for the claim. However, Progressive was wonderful and by far the best to work with of any of the four insurance companies we are dealing with. I might see if they have Homeowners too. Speaking of Progressive, A finally got her car back after a month and it looks so great! It looks brand new, which it is, but they also took out a couple of door dings and scratches she had so it looks brand new brand new.

A is so happy to have her car back. |

T picked guitar as his instrument to play in high school. He is getting really good. You can expect a Christmas concert this year! |
|
He has been anxiously awaiting the New Zelda game for the past 6 months! It was finally released and he is in video game heaven. |
The babies have merged with our older hens and it seems to be going ok. Our manly girl still hasn't crowed, but it's getting harder and harder to think it's not going to be a rooster. We have sighted a bobcat in our yard a couple of times recently, even during the early afternoon, and we just couldn't let the older girls roam around the backyard anymore. It wasn't safe so we went ahead and merged them together so we could keep them penned up together safely. This bobcat is quite large and I hope it moves on soon, but there is an ample supply of rabbits here so it has an abundance of food. We have already found 2 nests with a total of 11 babies. We found 48 babies last summer so I am hoping we don't get anywhere near that, but looking at the 10 full grown rabbits hopping around my yard right now I have to think we are just going to be over run with rabbits. We need the bobcat, but I worry about my chickens. We have never lost one to an animal attack in 7 years and I don't want to start now.

I did not realize the babies were so big! We probably could have moved them a couple of weeks ago. |

So far it has been going well. There is some discord among the ranks, but nothing too serious. i.e. noone is being seriously hurt. I must say that 21 chickens running full speed at you when you come to feed them is a little intimidating! |
