The Bunch Take L For Her College Entrance Exams and Start Summer Basketball Practice

T  "modeling" his new haircut. The mullet competition is in July at camp. If he places, he promises to cut it. Please wish him well!

This summer is on its way to being fairly busy. L is finishing the steps she needs to register for her fall classes, A is working on get her last 18 hours done in the next two semesters so she can graduate, and T started his weekly basketball gyms with the JV team. L had to take an entrance exam for college since we opt to NOT have the kids take the SAT or ACT. That was a crazy story. She is allowed to take it online, which is awesome! However, the proctor site they use was impossible! We literally spent about 20 hours trying to schedule this test! Of course, it is based in India so calling customer service was frustrating. We finally gave up and just took her to TWU to take it. It went so smoothly! I wish we had just saved ourselves the frustration and gone there first. It cost a little more, but was totally worth it. It was super easy to get to. T and I just dropped her off and went off to do errands in town. I took T to play basketball at the park for about an hour (thankfully I had him pack an extra shirt because it was super hot and muggy that day and he got gross!). We then went to two different stores to get our grocery shopping done and L finished right when we were done at the last store and we went to pick her up. It couldn't have been more perfect. She was ecstatic because the proctor had told her he was proud of her because she did so well on her exams, almost no one gets scores as high as she got! It made me feel really good too since I was the one that taught her everything! I know I have a very hard school schedule, but the kids have flourished with it. My writing schedule is more rigorous than a traditional school, but I feel being able to effectively communicate what you want to say is very important in almost any job so we have always really focused on that and all the kids have ended becoming very good writers. A always has the highest grade in her classes for papers she writes and L did an extraordinary job on her entrance essay. I am SO happy I made them do so many papers in school. It made them very capable writers.

The park had a really nice court, but it was sooo hot!

We went to see L's friend perform in a Narnia Ballet.

We had a great time!

A feels like school will never end! I remember those days! However, for her it really won't since Vet techs have to take continuing education classes to maintain their license, at least it's only 5 hours a year though. She should graduate next May. With the craziness of the housing market, she has been researching buying land to put a tiny house on. I figure if she buys a plot of land close to work, she could put a small house on it. That's pretty much the only way the kids will be able to have their own house. In fact, D and I have even talked about selling our house in 5 years when he retires and buying a tract of land to divide up for the kids to put houses on. Of course by tiny house, she means like 1000 sq ft. She has found a couple floor plans that she really likes and at about $125,000, it is actually affordable especially if she already has land. It makes me feel better knowing the kids  have some kind of option for housing when they get older. D and I were 22 and 23 when we bought our first house and honestly, that just isn't possible anymore. Housing prices are so high plus interest rates that it's just too hard for new grads to be able to own a home. I can't believe she is about to turn 20! Life goes by so fast!

I took the girls out to celebrate being on the AB honor roll throughout highschool.

We went to eat at one of our favorite restaurants.

This place is always so good, but it is a little pricey.

We always enjoy it though! We also went to see the new Little Mermaid in 3D and I took them shopping. It was a fun day!

T is my last little birdie still in the nest. Well, technically everyone except C is still in the nest since they all still live here, but T is the only one still a minor and in school. He started his basketball open gyms this week and playing with the JV players is going to be a lot harder! They go hard the whole game. The game is rougher, faster, and harder! I worry about T because of his Pectus, but so far he hasn't had any real issues. He just gets more tired than other players because his heart can't work as effectively so he has to work twice as hard ( while not pushing it too hard and causing an episode). I still worry though. They only had 12 kids show up for the last open gym so basically everyone played for 10 minutes and then had a minute to get a drink and then played for 10 minutes again. That just went a repeat for an hour and a half! To say T was tired afterwards would be an understatement. His friend even came home with him and they were both so tired they pretty much just showered, ate dinner, and went to sleep.😂 They couldn't even watch a movie.

The kids are all at camp in July so D and I are planning to take our first couples vacation since 2007! We aren't going far just in case we need to get to the kids at camp, but we are going to go away for about 3 days just us. I am excited. Hopefully, it won't be too hot, but if we did fine last summer in Galveston, I am sure will be fine. I'll just plan on finding indoor activities.

The Bunch Have A Hard Week

This was actually part of T's present. He had been begging D to do it.😂 It only stayed around a short while. After throwing such a fun and memorable birthday party for T at the lake with his basketball buddies, we have decided to part ways with the basketball organization. I cannot get past that evil man being anywhere near us or people I care about. I did make sure to give everyone a fair warning about the evil man and they can now hopefully make an informed decision about their level of involvement with him. I don't think T's too bothered by it. He didn't want to play this year anyways, but I had originally really wanted him to be around his friends. I am not sure what we will do instead, but I know he is happy to NOT have to run. He hates running. I am basically just feeling completely defeated. I trust no one and have a complete LACK of faith in police officers and lawyers. I know my husband is a good officer, but that's about it and the count is on until June

The Bunch Enjoy Easter

The Bunch ready to head to church to celebrate Easter. We had a wonderful Easter. The kids and I dyed eggs together. T made a fairly intricate Guns N Roses logo egg while A and I just enjoyed making pretty eggs. We have discovered that using food coloring makes for way brighter eggs than using the horrible Easter egg dye kits from the store. I participated in the egg hunt with the kids this year. It was so much fun! We laughed so hard as we all ran around trying to beat each other. Afterwards, we had our traditional egg gravy and went to church. We enjoyed a ham dinner and watched HOP. It was a great day.  T worked a long time on this egg. It was by far the most intricate egg he has ever done. He did a fantastic job! T actually fell down (you can tell by grass on his knee), but he wasn't going to lose no matter what! We had so much fun and laughter! It was great!! All smiles on our way to church. It was a little early still for A. The week has been pretty good. Better than I though

The Bunch Celebrate Valentine's Day And Grandma's Birthday

Obviously, now that my kids are all pretty much grown Valentine's isn't as big of deal to them. However, in keeping with tradition, not to mention the fact T still wanted out of school for the day, we still had a mini party.  I told them that this year I wasn't going to get them any candy, normally I get balloons and special treat for each of them, but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I decided I would buy them all pizza (a treat since I rarely allow pizza) and I had some little Bundt cakes to celebrate with. They all said they were fine with that. L doesn't really do sweets, A doesn't like chocolate, and T doesn't like truffles, but they all like pizza. We took the day off and fortunately didn't have any basketball related stuff. No practice, no games, a rare no basketball day. We watched a movie, played some minute to win it games, and just basically enjoyed a nice low key day.  I remember the old days when they were little and we would all make
