The Bunch Have A "Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"

It was oddly unsettling to be home, but have zero cars here.

Our week started out like any other. We were getting things ready to go on our trip and finishing some chores around the house. A and I were really excited she was going with us on our camping trip! She hasn't gone on a trip with us just to go camping in ages. It was only going to be for a couple days, but we were excited for her to come. It was going to be almost just like the old days.

D was out checking the tire pressures on all the vehicles and trailers in preparation of leaving when and low and behold his little car had a flat. He put the spare on and was hopefully going to get the tire repaired at Discount Tire when he realized that his car wouldn't start at all. We end up having it towed off to the auto shop. The very next day we all were on our way to visit GiGi and Pop Pop when about half way there the check engine light came on and we had to turn back and take a second car to the auto shop. At this point, we are starting to think maybe we filled up with bad gas, which we didn't. Since D had to work, that left T and I home without a car. I have never seen my driveway with no cars in it....it felt really weird! It took almost a week before D's car was fixed and we could get it. Unfortunately, the SUV didn't have great news. Is it fixable? Yes, it is. However, the repairs are more than the car is worth and we just can't see investing that in a 15 year old car that we weren't planning on keeping more than a couple more years.  We need something with a bigger engine so we can tow heavier loads, especially in really hilly or mountainous areas. On our trip Eureka Springs, we could barely get faster than 30 on the steep inclines. We are going to start looking for a 1 ton truck. It will be nice to have almost no towing limits. D isn't excited about a car payment, who is? We aren't able to go on any trips, get hay, take stuff to the metal place, etc. until we get a tow vehicle so hopefully we will figure something out in the next couple of months.

We tried to salvage the day since we missed going to Pop Pop's by going to play pickleball and grabbing some burgers. It was fun and the weather was gorgeous. It was cloudy with a breeze, which makes it feel very comfortable, but the wind isn't your friend when you play pickleball outside.😂

A was a little tired this time. She set out the last game. I hope she's not getting whatever is going around.

T played against D and I. We still lost, but by less!😂

It's good to see him smile and have fun. He gets so bent out of shape when anything unexpected happens, especially if it costs him money. 😂

The Bunch Start Birthday Week

Yes, my Mom had my name misspelled on the cake.😂 It was still yummy so it was all good. T, A, and I all have our birthdays within a week and a half. Which means there is a crazy amount of sugar within those 10 days. We always like to make whoever's birthday it is feel special for the day. We watch what they want,do activities they like, eat what they pick, do their chores for them, etc. It not usually too expensive, but just a fun day where it's focused on them. The kids use to use their days to rule like little kings and queens, but have become a lot calmer in their "old" age since they get to do whatever they want most of the time anyways. We are a pretty close family and do a lot of things together all the time anyways, but on birthdays we still make sure we defer to the birthday boy/girl. My birthday is first and the kids do so many nice things for me all the time, but they put forth an extra effort on my birthday. This year A even woke up early to turn the cof...

The Bunch Visit Family

We had fun playing some board games...and it wasn't even a fun jar idea! We just did it because it sounded like fun! The fun jar has been a little slow being implemented this year. T made sure to let me know! We're making up for it next week by drawing several things.  We have had a wonderfully busy week visiting family and getting things done around the house. We went over to my parents house to celebrate Father's Day and while the boys played games with Grandpa, the girls went with Grandma to show her what all the fuss about Trader Joe's is about. She enjoyed looking at all the different things and even found a few gems of her own. It was a nice day and fun to get out together for a little bit. We had a great day!🥰 We picked up Whataburger for my Dad as a treat and my mom made some tots and a side salad up to go with it.💗 We also had a nice long visit with our Aunt P. She's been under the weather and we hadn't had a visit in a couple weeks so it was nice t...

The Bunch Are Ready For Fall To Come Back

A and I at our favorite venue. We LOVE Bass Hall. I must admit that we are pretty tired of the crazy hot weather. We are ready to go back to the temps we had at the beginning of September. We played pickleball again this week, but D had required overtime to work so just T, A, and I went. We played singles and winner played the next person or A and I played together against T.  We ended up in full sun and the humidity was a killer. We are happy that the cold front is coming through this week and the mornings should be in the 60s or low 70s with low humidity. It should be super nice to play in. T won every game we played, but A and I together definitely made him work harder! We still had a lot fun. We decided against our usual post game Braums. We all were hot and really just wanted to get home to the a/c.  A won the lottery for tickets at Bass Hall to see the Life of Pi. We were up in the upper gallery, but that might have been beneficial for this show. The animal puppet...
