The Bunch Celebrate The Fourth And See The Notebook At Bass Hall

I can't believe I managed not to get anyone else in the shot!

This was actually a fun week! Things are starting to slow down a little and we had a few fun things planned.

First off A is REALLY tired of working this summer. In the past 2 weeks A has only had one day off and spent the entire weekend at work on call and not leaving until 10 pm. She normally loves her work but also knows she doesn't want to do it full time. She enjoys her 25-30 hours a week. She even got called in on Saturday literally on our way out the door to enjoy our town's fourth of July festival. She had really been excited to go, but unfortunately got called back in to work for the third time that day to do a surgery and ended up not being able to leave until 10pm. She has been going out a couple of times with the new guy she's dating, but mostly she's just working. She's counting the days down until July is over and she goes back to her regular schedule. A won tickets for us to see the Notebook at Bass Hall! We had a wonderful time seeing it! It is in our top 3 of Broadway shows.

This was even better than I thought it would be!

The lotto is definitely the way to see the shows. We got two tickets plus parking for $65!

Our seats weren't the best we have won, but still pretty darn good.

We even stayed after to get autographs from most of the cast.

T has been busy doing odd jobs for our neighbors and family plus getting everything together to start the academy in the fall. He has church camp this week so we also finished getting his stuff ready to go to that. This year the church decided to try a new camp in the Hill Country. At least, I know he can swim well....just in case.

C and H used to always go with us to the July 4th festival by our old house and when we moved we stopped doing that. This year we decided to go to our town's fourth festival, which for whatever reason they have decided to do on the last Saturday in June, which has really messed with me this week. I have had the hardest time NOT thinking it's already July! C and H picked up some pizza for us for dinner and then we headed out to the festival. It was fun! I wish A would have been able to join us, but it was a nice reminder of our past holidays. To make it up for A we are going to another festival this weekend that she can go to because she won't be on call!

There is no parking at the festival so there is 8 satellite locations that they shuttle you to and from.

The festival started at 5pm but to avoid the heat we didn't arrive until after 7:30pm. It turned out to be perfect. The sun was behind the tree line and it didn't feel horrible.

There were water slides for the kids, roller coaster, tons of craft and food vendors, plus a live band. Our kids would have loved this when they were little! Maybe we will bring Baby Wes when he gets older.

H has been doing really well! So has C! I am glad his health scares are behind us for now.

H had a craving for Mexican corn. She said she didn't care how much it cost. She was getting some.😂 It was perfect timing too because she bought the literal last one!

I love fireworks and the Fourth!

The Bunch Start Birthday Week

Yes, my Mom had my name misspelled on the cake.😂 It was still yummy so it was all good. T, A, and I all have our birthdays within a week and a half. Which means there is a crazy amount of sugar within those 10 days. We always like to make whoever's birthday it is feel special for the day. We watch what they want,do activities they like, eat what they pick, do their chores for them, etc. It not usually too expensive, but just a fun day where it's focused on them. The kids use to use their days to rule like little kings and queens, but have become a lot calmer in their "old" age since they get to do whatever they want most of the time anyways. We are a pretty close family and do a lot of things together all the time anyways, but on birthdays we still make sure we defer to the birthday boy/girl. My birthday is first and the kids do so many nice things for me all the time, but they put forth an extra effort on my birthday. This year A even woke up early to turn the cof...

The Bunch Are Ready For Fall To Come Back

A and I at our favorite venue. We LOVE Bass Hall. I must admit that we are pretty tired of the crazy hot weather. We are ready to go back to the temps we had at the beginning of September. We played pickleball again this week, but D had required overtime to work so just T, A, and I went. We played singles and winner played the next person or A and I played together against T.  We ended up in full sun and the humidity was a killer. We are happy that the cold front is coming through this week and the mornings should be in the 60s or low 70s with low humidity. It should be super nice to play in. T won every game we played, but A and I together definitely made him work harder! We still had a lot fun. We decided against our usual post game Braums. We all were hot and really just wanted to get home to the a/c.  A won the lottery for tickets at Bass Hall to see the Life of Pi. We were up in the upper gallery, but that might have been beneficial for this show. The animal puppet...

The Bunch Have A Fun Week!

D had his awards banquet at a BBQ place we had been wanting to try for awhile. The food was really delicious and not greasy at all.  We have had a lot of expenses thrown at us lately. We bought our new appliances , which were well planned for. However, after that we had 2 cars to get repaired, one of which   was decided that it was too expensive and would make more sense to get a newer, stronger, younger one, I have to get some polyps removed, we owe uncle Sam money for the first time ever (thanks to the rule about the year a child turns 17 you lose the child tax credit even if the majority of the year they are 16), and lots of other little things. You know how it goes...when it rains it pours. Since we were unable to take the rv out because of the tow vehicle being unable to tow with a heavy load, more like us not wanting to risk trying, and since A had a day off work, we decided to go on an adventure to do something that none of us ever had done before. We started with...
