The Bunch "Journey Off The Map"...to VBS!

L wanted sock curls to go to VBS. The next morning....super curly hair! so bouncy! This week is the much anticipated, always loved, fun filled week at The First Baptist Church of Lewisville, aka VBS.  The kids have been looking forward to this and they were not disappointed! They learned some great new worship songs and really enjoyed celebrating the Lord's love with all their friends. The church always goes all out to make VBS fun for the kids and this year was no exception. The church even constructed a cave for the students to walk through. The theme this year was Journey Off the Map (think Indiana Jones) and all the little explorers were out finding clues of God's love and grace. We had a blast and have even downloaded the worship songs to play at home. Squirrels love the park too! A and T playing ball It is already the end of June and we have not hit 100 degrees yet! I know it is coming, but the lower temps have been enjoyable, though the high ...

The Bunch Back the Badge

In front of the band at the Back the Badge Festival Today we went to the Back the Badge festival that the town gives for its firefighters and police personnel. They make it a day thing starting with a 5k at 8:30am, they serve lunch, have multiple games and activities to play, and conclude with the softball game between the firefighters and police. It was originally scheduled to be at the beginning of May, but thanks to all the rain we had they had to reschedule it. Unfortunately for us, all day activities that are outdoors in North Texas in June are HOT! It was 96 at about 1pm therefore we did not do the 5k (when I say we I really just mean me) and we only stayed about 1hr and 15 minutes. The kids really wanted to stay to watch the softball game, but they were extremely red faced already and there was no shade in the bleachers so we decided they had enough and took them home. It was a lot of fun, but even the bounce houses were scorching our feet! This was harder than it looks! ...

The Bunch Celebrate the Lack of Rain!

A chillin with the flamingos. This has been a great week! It has not rained in about 4 days which is wonderful. Maybe one day soon the flooded highway will be passable again.  We rushed out in the sunshine to enjoy the last few days of quiet before the children in public schools, who are released at the week's end, flood all the amusement areas. We decided the Ft Worth Zoo and Legoland were on the agenda for this week. The first stop was the zoo. We had a great time, but we will stick to November from now on for our visits. It was very warm during our visit. The kids started complaining and acting up after just a couple of hours. We only stayed for about 3.5 hours before we had enough and left. This was the first trip to this zoo in about 2 years or so.  We did enjoy the exhibits, and maybe just because we were so hot, we still liked the Dallas Zoo better. The Ft Worth by far has more animals and I love half priced Weds., but the Dallas just seems roomier and to have high...

The Bunch Celebrate Day 110 of Rain!

The each have a half a bottle of gel and hairspray to hold their buns during their dance recital. Okay, we are not celebrating and it hasn't been 110 days, but we are really tired of it raining everyday. I do not want to be the one who starts complaining about the rain and have the drought return, but please God let us have a week to dry out a little! I cannot remember the last time the 7 day forecast did not include rain everyday! I am developing a lake around my house and I do not even live in a low lying area! Two days ago we saw ducks swimming on the sidewalk! The kids are already tired of summer because we haven't been able to do much. No parks, no zoo, no waterpark, no outside; the only thing we do is once a day take the dog on a walk/swim through the neighborhood. There are so many mosquitoes now from the rain that I feel fairly confident we will all catch malaria or some other horrible disease. The dog is almost as restless as the kids, but at least she can go in ...

Happy Mother's Day From the Bunch!

Our newest Baby!      First of all, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the mothers out there. Personally for me, we do not do a whole bunch of "stuff" on Mother's day. I am with my kids literally 24/7 with homeschool and everyday is pretty much Mother's Day. My kids are always wanting to play games with me, show me that they are thinking of me by bringing me flowers, or snuggling up to watch a movie or favorite tv show. That is not to say that the do not have moments that I swear some evil being has overtaken my sweet kids, but they are pretty sweet most of the time. I pray everyone else is as blessed as I am and able to enjoy your kids while they are young because my oldest is grown up and on his own and I really miss just being able to have small everyday moments together. I still see and talk to him regularly, but it will never be like it was when he was little so I really try to get the most of each day with the younger ones that are still at home.      W...

The Bunch Celebrate L's Bday and Get a New Dog

Happy Birthday L! For the first time in a few years, L celebrated her actual birthday without being on a trip or just back from a trip. In fact, it was almost 2 full weeks from when we arrived home that she celebrated her birthday. She hates celebrating her bday on the road, but normally spring break includes her birthday so it cannot be helped. We throw her a party on another day, but she still likes being home on her birthday.  My husband and I gave her a magic kit from Universal Studios that we saw while we were there for vacation. She practiced and during her party put on a little magic show for her guests. She did really well.....we gave her the levitating magic kit so she showed us the "magic" way she could levitate the card. It looks really cool! Easter Morning Made Daddy in charge of egg dying! hehee!!! We also ended up adopting a shelter dog. We had been dogless for about 6 months and truth be told DH and I really liked it. No walking the dog, no...
