A and I at our favorite venue. We LOVE Bass Hall. |
I must admit that we are pretty tired of the crazy hot weather. We are ready to go back to the temps we had at the beginning of September. We played pickleball again this week, but D had required overtime to work so just T, A, and I went. We played singles and winner played the next person or A and I played together against T. We ended up in full sun and the humidity was a killer. We are happy that the cold front is coming through this week and the mornings should be in the 60s or low 70s with low humidity. It should be super nice to play in. T won every game we played, but A and I together definitely made him work harder! We still had a lot fun. We decided against our usual post game Braums. We all were hot and really just wanted to get home to the a/c.
A won the lottery for tickets at Bass Hall to see the Life of Pi. We were up in the upper gallery, but that might have been beneficial for this show. The animal puppets looked so real from up there! I had heard of the Life of Pi since it was a movie, but didn't know much about it other than it was about a boy and his tiger. I was thinking Jungle Book meets Lion King. Spoiler, I was WAY off! I am not going to say what it was about because seeing it without any knowledge of what it is about makes it very intense and intriguing. I wasn't the only one shocked by the show. The first act was so quiet you literally could have heard a pin drop. No was ready when intermission came so when the lights came on no one moved, talked, or made noise for a full minute. There was no clapping for the first act. Everyone was just processing what they saw. We heard people commenting on how it wasn't like the movie. I have no idea what the movie was like since I never saw it, but the play was equal parts horrifying and intense. However, it DEFINITELY got the audience's attention. There was more response from the audience in the second act. I guess we finally were able to process it. They received a standing ovation at the end. I just kept telling A that I hoped no kids were there. They would be traumatized! A said that there was warnings when you bought the tickets. That information would have been helpful to know before I watched the first Act. I was not expecting it and was pretty horrified since in my head I thought I was going to a Disney show. Would A and I see it again? By ourselves no, but it would be fun to take someone to see it who was unfamiliar with it just so they could experience the intenseness of the show. It was really good, just intense. We thought D and T would probably really like it.

We took this as soon as intermission started. I was still trying to process what I just saw.😂 |

A boy and his tiger.... technically I guess that was true. Kind of. |

T just got his first mullet shaping hair cut. He looks like a true 80s guy now! The mullet is coming along, but it has a lot of growing to do. |

The storm that destroyed Sanger knocked out our power for awhile. We were luckily on the outskirts of this one so we didn't sustain any damage, but the flexibility of my trees was definitely tested! We still haven't moved the rv back to where it goes after the last storm moved it. |

I found a mullet wig for T to give him inspiration.😂 |
