The Bunch Finish The Deck

It was slow, tedious, and back killing, but after 2 days and 2 coats we FINALLY finished!

It was a long, long weekend! I started my deck project on good authority that there was absolutely no rain or cold weather in the forecast for the next two weeks.  I was about halfway into the project when I learned rain was expected in 5 days. I need 48 hours for the deck to cure before it gets wet. That only left us with 2 full days, sun up to sun down, to finish said project. I will say that 1.) we did finish, 2.) it was literally all day long for mostly two full days, 3.) the project just about completely broke us and 4.) I absolutely love it! It looks so much better! It definitely doesn't look brand new, but it looks 1000 x better than it did. I will say that while I was doing crazy manual labor all day long for a week that I can't remember EVER sleeping so well! I would literally lay down in bed at about 8pm and almost immediately go to sleep. I would only get up a couple of times in the night to take the dogs out and immediately go back to sleep. It was awesome! That never happens to me. Sleep is so hard! Those of you with insomnia issues will completely understand. Unfortunately, I am back to my normal insomnia sleep nights, but wow! What a great sleep week! However, my back, and D's were definitely ready to NOT be working. This next weekend we plan to take it pretty easy. We will play games with the kids and relax on the couch with a movie. We have a couple of chores to do of course, but mostly it will be a low key week.

I am really happy with how it turned out. It doesn't look new, but it looks a lot nicer.

I fenced Murdoch, our rooster, in his own pen so he can't get on the deck. I am not even letting anyone wear shoes on the deck yet!😂 It was so much work that we just need a bit to enjoy it before everyone dirties it up again.

T started back to school this week. He is so ready to be done with school and I am so ready for him to be done too! His graduation ceremony  is in April, but we won't actually finish school until May. He then plans to attend the fire academy, but he may have to take a semester off. They don't let you start until you are 18, but his birthday is literally 3 days after the semester begins so we plan to ask for an exception. If not, then he can just enjoy an nice long break. We have tickets to a Mavericks game coming up.  We are pretty excited. T has spent a lot of time going to see musicals for A so now she can go see a sports game for him. I wanted to go when we play the Lakers to show Luca some love, but apparently everyone else has the same idea so tickets were CRAZY expensive! 😂  I am talking $300 a ticket for the very top nosebleed row!

A has been doing very well lately. T has got her on a health kick and she is working out with weights regularly instead of just Pilates and has been actively dating and going out with friends. I miss having my hang out buddy, but I am so happy she's coming out of her introvert shell and going to enjoy outings with her friends. Her and T went to try out their new pickleball paddles while D and I had to work on the deck. A said she felt like a pro even though T won every game😂.

Overall, 2026 is off to a fantastic start! I hope everyone else is having a great year so far too!

The kitties claiming their nighttime spots ... they are actually pretty heavy together. They weigh about 25 lbs together. Needless to say, I had to stop using my 20 lbs weighted blanket with them...I thought I might die!😂

The Bunch Start Birthday Week

Yes, my Mom had my name misspelled on the cake.😂 It was still yummy so it was all good. T, A, and I all have our birthdays within a week and a half. Which means there is a crazy amount of sugar within those 10 days. We always like to make whoever's birthday it is feel special for the day. We watch what they want,do activities they like, eat what they pick, do their chores for them, etc. It not usually too expensive, but just a fun day where it's focused on them. The kids use to use their days to rule like little kings and queens, but have become a lot calmer in their "old" age since they get to do whatever they want most of the time anyways. We are a pretty close family and do a lot of things together all the time anyways, but on birthdays we still make sure we defer to the birthday boy/girl. My birthday is first and the kids do so many nice things for me all the time, but they put forth an extra effort on my birthday. This year A even woke up early to turn the cof...

The Bunch Are Ready For Fall To Come Back

A and I at our favorite venue. We LOVE Bass Hall. I must admit that we are pretty tired of the crazy hot weather. We are ready to go back to the temps we had at the beginning of September. We played pickleball again this week, but D had required overtime to work so just T, A, and I went. We played singles and winner played the next person or A and I played together against T.  We ended up in full sun and the humidity was a killer. We are happy that the cold front is coming through this week and the mornings should be in the 60s or low 70s with low humidity. It should be super nice to play in. T won every game we played, but A and I together definitely made him work harder! We still had a lot fun. We decided against our usual post game Braums. We all were hot and really just wanted to get home to the a/c.  A won the lottery for tickets at Bass Hall to see the Life of Pi. We were up in the upper gallery, but that might have been beneficial for this show. The animal puppet...

The Bunch Have A Fun Week!

D had his awards banquet at a BBQ place we had been wanting to try for awhile. The food was really delicious and not greasy at all.  We have had a lot of expenses thrown at us lately. We bought our new appliances , which were well planned for. However, after that we had 2 cars to get repaired, one of which   was decided that it was too expensive and would make more sense to get a newer, stronger, younger one, I have to get some polyps removed, we owe uncle Sam money for the first time ever (thanks to the rule about the year a child turns 17 you lose the child tax credit even if the majority of the year they are 16), and lots of other little things. You know how it goes...when it rains it pours. Since we were unable to take the rv out because of the tow vehicle being unable to tow with a heavy load, more like us not wanting to risk trying, and since A had a day off work, we decided to go on an adventure to do something that none of us ever had done before. We started with...
