The past couple of weeks have been a little crazy with my dad being in the hospital and now D's mom being in the hospital. D's mom went in to have a planned surgery and unexpectedly, right before being sent home, developed blood clots in her lungs that they had to do an emergency procedure to remove them. It was by divine intervention that she was still at the hospital when this occurred or the outcome could have been a lot worse. She was transferred from the surgical hospital to the main hospital and is now in ICU. Unfortunately, after several clots were removed from her lungs, one developed in her thigh that made them decide to put a filter in to catch them before they could make it to her lungs again. It does carry the risk of the filter becoming clogged causing her to have an issue, but she will be on blood thinners for the rest of her life so hopefully that won't ever happen.
My dad has been slowly improving. When he checked in to the hospital two weeks ago, his count was about 2000. After one treatment and several blood transfusions and platelets he is doing a lot better. He has not needed the blood the past couple of days, but is still getting platelets. When his count gets to 134,000 he will get to leave the hospital. My mom said he was able to use his walker to walk around the ICU floor yesterday. He has been dying to go anywhere other than his room so I bet he really liked that. I am helping my mom set up the house so he can use it easier when he comes home. He will continue his cancer treatments once week and have physical therapy come to the house 3 times a week.
I had a wonderful Mother's Day. A surprised me with a beautiful card, decorating the white board, making me coffee, feeding the animals, and set an appointment up for us to go get facials together! I feel so spoiled! C plans to take me out for lunch. We had planned a day to go, but decided to wait until my dad's white blood cells were higher just in case we picked up a virus while we were in public. T was your typical teenage boy this year. He wished me a happy mother's day verbally, but no handmade card. He also participated in playing a board game and watching a movie I picked out. I never feel like my kids need to get me anything. A usually goes all out, but I am totally fine with them not doing much. My kids are so helpful most of the time. I am very appreciative of how willing they are to step up when I need something. They are all great kids. Even C is willing to drive all the way here from Bonham if I need him to. I also would do the same for them.
D has started training season so he is pretty busy. We are very grateful we decided to cancel our travel plans for a few months since we are needed here to help out with everything. I also decided to not plant our big garden in the back this year so other than the animals there's not a lot we will have to do outside. Plus, I am not really mowing this year to help reestablish our grass. The amount of wild flowers growing has been wonderful! I even had a neighbor tell us how pretty all the flowers in the yard are. They might not have the same appreciation in a couple of months, but there's not a lot they can do. We have no HOA and don't live in city limits so we can all pretty much do whatever we want with our land. The horse is actually doing a lot better this week. She actually started trotting and bucking. I can't remember the last time she did either. She must have heard she was getting close to being put down. Lol.
