The Bunch Get Ready For A Party

H, C, and Baby Wesley

Back in the day it seemed we had parties all the time. Just having family come over to celebrate with us yielded almost 20 people. Unfortunately through the years we have lost grandparents, let go of others, and had health issues effecting the mobility of others. Our parties are now about 10 or so. We use to have birthday parties for all 4 kids, Easter get togethers, Christmas celebrations, and July 4th cookouts. The kids have since grown up so there aren't any birthday parties, COVID took out most of our get togethers and they never really came back. The past couple of years we have sort of started to throw a couple of get togethers, but nothing like we use to. They are more small, simple affairs, which is a lot less stressful and I feel like I can enjoy the moment more with our loved ones. I always enjoy seeing everyone and it feels like we never really get to spend a lot of time together so I treasure the time that we do get. This weekend we planned to have a small cookout to celebrate our Aunt and her husband coming down from Pennsylvania for the first time in about 7 years! We were so excited! C and H were coming down and my in laws would be here.  A invited her boyfriend. T invited his girlfriend, but she had a softball tournament so she couldn't come. Unfortunately, our Aunt had an issue with her trailer brakes and getting the issue resolved took about 4 days so she wasn't able to make our cookout. However, we decided to still host it because we really wanted to see our in laws and C & H. It ended up being an impromptu baby shower for C & H. A and I had collected a mountain of stuff the past few months for Baby Wesley and we gave it to them when they were here.  I can't believe that no later than November 29 the baby will be here! We are all so excited!! Actually the induction is scheduled for November 29 in the evening so he will most likely be born on the 30th. We are driving out this next weekend to help them put on her official baby shower. We have a pretty busy October so no trips this month, but we are most likely going on one in November, but we haven't really planned it out yet. We're toying with the idea of Branson, but gas is just so expensive we may not go quite so far, but then again Branson is one of our most favorite spots. A has been talking about another Universal trip, but that is definitely too far for our November trip.

My Dad has been doing really well! His counts are just slightly below where the doctor would ideally like them, but they are holding steady even between treatments. Unfortunately, my Mom just had her mammogram come back with a mass. It's not unexpected. My entire maternal family line has had breast cancer so I expect both the girls and I will have it at some point too. Fortunately, science has come a long ways in the past 50 years and it can be detected early. My mom gets her mammogram done every year and they caught the tumor early enough that she should not need radiation or anything. I am taking her in next week for a lumpectomy and after that she will just have to take a pill once a month for 10 years.

The little mama♥️

A got Baby Wesley the cutest sweater made.

A also found a cute little T shirt from the zoo gift shop....she actually found like 5 things, but held herself back😂

It had been 10 days since we had seen DC. I was worried that the she had drowned in the same flash flooding that hurt the donkey, who by the way is seeing the vet on Tuesday. She's been doing pretty good hobbling around. We do have 2 houses for DC, but she hasn't gone into either yet. I hope she does before it gets cold. We also plan to put a house on stilts farther back on the property so maybe she'll go into it if it's higher up and away from people.

The Bunch Say Goodbye

Aunt P picked a lovely cemetery. It was so beautiful and peaceful. For the past 8 years or so we have helped our Aunt P.  We have had numerous visits and conversations over the years, not to mention dinners and root beer floats. We have watched her physical health decline while her mental health was still sharp as tack. Sadly, the last month of her life she had started to have several moments where she didn't know what was going on. We had numerous conversations about her death with her and we are very happy in knowing that she finally has the relief she wanted. The past year in particular was VERY hard on her and she needed help more. D and I would visit almost every Wednesday and Saturday, plus whenever she called for help. It was nice to talk to her. She was witty, smart, knew the answer to just about anything, and did a wonderful job of making you feel special and loved. I once told her that I would really miss our chats when she was gone...I will. I really enjoyed getti...

The Bunch's Streak Of Bad Luck Continues

We made great time on the way there! It's amazing how leaving only 30 minutes later can help immensely with traffic. I wish all the shows started at 8 instead of 7:30.  What a week this was! We went to Bass Hall to see Back to the Future. It was ok. Definitely not the best play we have seen. The boys went with us and since the last two shows they joined us for were The Outsiders, which is one of, if not our most, favorite show ever, and A Christmas Story, which is in probably in the top 6, they were really not impressed. However, we still had a nice time doing something different together.  We love Bass Hall❤️ We had opening night tickets and got a GREAT deal! I went in this week and had my polyps removed plus they did a biopsy. I was more sore and for longer than I anticipated. Yes, the doctor said recovery was about 10 days, but I really only anticipated maybe 3-4. Boy, was I wrong! It's been 7 days now and by 10 I think I will be completely back to normal. Unfortunately, sh...

The Bunch Have A Fun Week!

D had his awards banquet at a BBQ place we had been wanting to try for awhile. The food was really delicious and not greasy at all.  We have had a lot of expenses thrown at us lately. We bought our new appliances , which were well planned for. However, after that we had 2 cars to get repaired, one of which   was decided that it was too expensive and would make more sense to get a newer, stronger, younger one, I have to get some polyps removed, we owe uncle Sam money for the first time ever (thanks to the rule about the year a child turns 17 you lose the child tax credit even if the majority of the year they are 16), and lots of other little things. You know how it goes...when it rains it pours. Since we were unable to take the rv out because of the tow vehicle being unable to tow with a heavy load, more like us not wanting to risk trying, and since A had a day off work, we decided to go on an adventure to do something that none of us ever had done before. We started with...
