It was a super fun day! |
This was quite a busy week! First off, it was stormy. As you know our huge new dog is a big baby and is VERY reactive to storms. We have had SOME success with giving him anxiety medicine and putting him in his kennel. He does require someone to stay up with him while he is in his kennel so T and I take turns sitting with him. While we are still tired, at least this way we can relax instead of trying to man handle him to get out from behind the couch. He's been doing great gaining weight and while he still needs to gain about 30 more lbs, he has gained enough already it is getting really hard to make him do anything he doesn't want to!
The neighbor asked T if he would help her trim her bushes this week. She had surgery recently and can't get very much done so she likes to give T a few bucks to come help her do some chores. He spent about two hours cleaning her hedgerow and trimming the bushes. Unfortunately, he came into something he was HIGHLY allergic to. It could be poison ivy, but he didn't remember seeing any and he's pretty good at identifying it. However, it presented a similar reaction. He broke out in horrible pussy blisters, was so swollen he couldn't really open his eyes, and had a tomato red appearance. He was also crazy grouchy, which wasn't directly caused by the hedgerow, but an underlying condition from being so miserable and itchy. He was supposed to play in church this week, but he had to unfortunately let them know Saturday night that he couldn't be there. Bless his heart, he was still going to try, even without the gift of sight and the horrible pain of trying to hold his guitar. I actually told him he couldn't play and he didn't even argue.😂 That should tell you how miserable he was. We went to urgent care as soon as they opened (we have a an urgent care center here now!!!) and they gave him a couple of injections of steroids and even by the time he got home most of the swelling had gone down and the redness had faded to pink. Over the next few days, he improved more and more and now just has leftover blisters that are starting to fade away. I was worried people might think he had measles!

Poor guy! He was miserable. |
This was after some OTC treatments that helped. |
This was after he got home from getting the steroid shot. |
It really helped him feel better quickly. I couldn't believe how quickly it worked! |
I had a doctor's appointment this week and A went with me so we could go by Trader Joe's on our way home. We love trying different things and so much of their stuff is so great! I absolutely love their Chai tea concentrate. It is hands down the best concentrate I have had and, bonus, at less than $3 per bottle, it's also the cheapest! Each bottle makes 4-5 drinks. We also LOVE their lemon curd. We get plain Greek yogurt and mix in a spoonful of it. It is so yummy! We got several things to try and the most interesting was their frozen mashed potatoes. I was a little taken back when they came out looking like Cheeto Puffs, but they turned into potatoes as they cooked. They weren't that great though so I don't recommend them.

Looks like Cheetos, right? |
In celebration of graduating, we took A for a fun filled trip to the zoo. She wanted to create a day like from her childhood. She has wanted to go forever. The Dallas Zoo was our favorite. Yes, I said WAS. Now that the Ft Worth zoo has upgraded some of their enclosures, overall it is better EXCEPT compared to the Giants of The Savannah, which houses all the large African predators. It is very well done, especially the gorillas. However, apparently the Australian area we loved had to close because of the I-35 expansion and everyone's most favorite part, the Trading Post, was also done away with. The kids had made sure to bring things to trade and were especially upset it wasn't there. Basically, we took a deer jaw and a turtle shell on a trip to the zoo. 😂 We still had a wonderful time and the cool, dry weather was perfect! We really had to dodge all the strollers and wagons though. I remember when that was us! It is definitely easier to get around without all that. A even had to take a break from all the kids screaming.

We watched the lion keeper talk. It was really interesting and impressive to see a lioness so close! |
We were ready for our fun day! |
The tunnel to the Giants of the Savannah is really neat. It actually goes under the freeway. |
It has several murals of animals. |
I don't remember them having any buffalos, but still a cool mural. |
T ducking down so I could see his face.😂 |
I absolutely love how they did ALL the enclosures. It is so natural! |
After all the storms, the fact it was an absolutely beautiful day made all the animals come out and super active. It was the best animal viewing we've ever had. |
He is recreating a picture from when he is six. I am going to find it and post them side by side. |
He is such a goofball!❤️ |
He doesn't even register.😂 |
My silly boy. |
They were going to both get on it,but apparently the metal was crazy hot, I have no idea how he was able to do the previous picture. A was NOT getting on it. |
Awww! They still fall asleep after a big day at the zoo. Somethings never change.🥰 |
